I have lived and worked in Dubai for the last 3 years or so. Dubai is bust, they cannot finish the projects they started, never mind new ones.
Abu Dhabi are rich, so much so that they bailed Dubai out to the tune of 30+ billion dollars.
But as for Qatar, they make Abu Dhabi look like Marsh Green. They are now the richest nation on earth, and on paper, every Qatari is pretty much a millionaire (national wealth / population).
Most of the expat guys who moved on from Dubai have gone there. Expats from Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Al Ain, Cairo are all going over there at a rate of knots. The place will be the new Dubai, but not on borrowed money. They are doing 5 golf courses (same as Dubai), 4 football Stadiums in Doha (3 more than Dubai) (air conditioned with roofs like Cardiff) – look at their World Cup bid, new tallest building in world etc.
If any of you want a few years work tax free abroad over the next ten years – this is the place to be, it will be booming in 18 months. Went to Doha a few weeks back, in one month alone 6 bar chains have opened up a Doha branch (under licence from various hotels).
I would be willing to bet that half the premier league who are over 30 end up there when these stadiums are built.
All the signs out here point to Doha being the new Dubai, THE place to be seen (holiday wise) within 2-3 years, leaving Dubai part finished and forgotten. (I go in 8 months on internal transfer).
What work do you do in Dubai Mighty_aff if you don’t mind me asking?
I work in the Construction Industry – im a structural engineer.

But he’ll pick you up on your missing apostrophe when he finally does come back
26 June 2010 at 11:31 pm #38391Maybe you should flip a coin to see which of you are more off-topic.
The replying message will say….
JamesC : Stop Spamming, go to bed. Mushrooms
And you can keep your oar out, too.
You and the other herbert are the exact reasons why this forum – despite the best of efforts by more sensible and grown-up people – struggles to be taken seriously.
I believe many people cannot take the board seriously with you and your constant posting about things that have no relevence to the topic, too.
Thanks for the backup, it takes a lot to stand up to Griff :D26 June 2010 at 11:35 pm #38393:lol:

The point is I can post serious, interesting stuff, or I can dabble in this kind of pointless cr@p with you. Your problem is you can only deal in the latter.
Off topic? My first post on this thread was about Qatar. Your first contribution to this thread was to ask Mighty_Aff what he does for a living, so who’s veering off topic?
I’ll freely admit I sort of pick on you because I find it funny watching you reply*. You just can’t help your self, can you? You respond to almost every single post, yet in the main you add nothing. You are getting very tedious now.
* watching you reply is funny; your replies are not funny
I am extremely funny, intelligent and all in all a great addition to this board!!
I think there is a bit too much off-topic humour, maybe there should be a “Spam Forum” and a “Have a go and those posting in the Spam Forum, Forum”.They already do it on some sites. :P :) :D 8-) ;)
