Blackburn 3700 with 400 from Barnet.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!4 November 2017 at 10:45 pm #163046I just can’t work it out. If we are at home and I can go I go. Don’t know why so called fans deliberately don’t go to cup games.
Agree three amazing goals but didn’t we make it hard work without Jacobs and Grigg. Very sluggish and replacements just not in the same class as Jacobs and Grigg. Evans is very frustrating ambling around the park almost asleep but his two bits of class won us the game. He had another amazing burst in the second half. Home tie next please.4 November 2017 at 11:05 pm #163047Why is anyone surprised? Its been happening for years

When Latics lost to Canvey Island back in 2001/02 there was 3671 onYeah, but we have come on somewhat as a club since then. After 2013, youd think our fans would have a bit more interest in the FA Cup.
What do Wiganers want? £10 a ticket at most? I honestly dont think there would be much of a difference if it was £5 a ticket? I wish they had made it all ticket now with advice to retain your stub “for future preference”. If we get through round 2 and draw Liverpool at Anfield, you can see the same stay aways rushing to grab a ticket, queueing at 5am. Its happened before.
2nd in the league, unbeaten in 9 and cheapest of cheap ticket prices. I cant fathom it. 800 people rushed to buy Rochdale tickets up to close of business yesterday. I bet the majority of those didnt even bother today.
Our support is embarrassing. How can it improve? I feel sorry for Cookie and the lads.
5 November 2017 at 1:57 am #163054Its our preference but we don’t go to home games in the FA Cup, sod knows why but we only go away games.

Not as bad as for the Chekatrade game against Middlesborough, now the stay aways that night did embarrass the club they are supposed to love5 November 2017 at 4:28 am #163064Why is anyone surprised? Its been happening for years

6 November 2017 at 12:56 pm #163088Was there too pal. The thing is the majority of us who are arsed enough to keep posting on forums like this will probably be there again amongst the few on Tuesday night. I can’t wait for it but suspect it’s going to be a hard battle for the youngsters if Accy play a strong side. S draw will be enough to progress but hopefully we get a win.
6 November 2017 at 1:50 pm #163089Reason I boycott the Checkatrade is the leagues decision to chuck in Championship and Premier League U23 squads. Its patronizing. I want nothing to do with the competition, and I will stick to that.
Unless we get to the final and then I will be there queuing from 4am for tickets, with my flask and fishing chair. Well, I wouldnt want to miss a final, would I? And I’d want prime seats for sure.
6 November 2017 at 3:15 pm #163092Not paying a tenner to watch a glorified youth match
6 November 2017 at 3:21 pm #163095And the fa cup is no longer the big prize it was. Most of the big clubs would rather qualify for the champs league than win the cup, and the smaller clubs just want to stay in the league so play the reserves. Look at Stelling and his merry men on soccer Saturday when they questioned what we would rather do and then laughed when we said win the cup.
Sad state of affairs but football is a business now and there is no money in winning the cup.
6 November 2017 at 5:20 pm #163096I will certainly pay a tenner because it’s Wigan Athletic on the fixture, I’ve nothing else to stop me going, I love my club so I will be there just like in the old days when we could have had two matches in midweek. Floodlight cup and league games, Lancs Junior Cup and Floodlight Cup, Ashworth Trophy, Challenge Trophy, FA Cup, League Cups and League games plus benefit games and friendlies and the cups had second third and fourth replays. Three matches a week sometimes and all valued by fans. You may not go to them all but you wouldn’t just stay away on purpose like 4500 or so did on Saturday.

That’s the manager’s prerogative, & I’ve no problem with it, but if the guy in charge doesn’t see it as a priority then I see no reason why supporters should treat it with the same priority as league games when deciding how to spend their hard earned cash.
We’re not the only club where it happens – Bradford City who get crowds of around 20,000 for league games had 4,700 so I’m not sure why people are getting their knickers in a twist about it happening at Latics
