NZogbia was awful again, too predictable so much so everybody knows where he’s gonna go. When he loses the ball through an attempted dribble or crap lazy pass, notice the position which it happens and puts Wigan on the backfoot immediately. He’s getting so bad now that he’s calling for everything when he hits the floor attempting to cheat a free-kick.
I thought the changes upfront were tactically excellent and opened Chelsea up on many occasions. A huge problem was Di Santo’s decision making and inability to pass the bugger, where many opportunities opened up and required a through ball or a simply pass.
Sammon won everything in the air not just with his head but brought the ball down well. A link up player needed at just the right time although I’d still use him as an impact sub. I don’t think he could muster 90mins intensity of his game at all.
I would continue 4-5-1 based upon the fact the later 4-4-2 is an element of surprise. I would drop NZogbia who cannot do the basics and doesn’t link up attacking wise where the ball must be kept to carve open chances. Just take note of how many times the ball is lost in the last third. He would make a good impact player.
Other than that it wasn’t too bad.
