I think they were probably brought in for back up for last season to ensure we had cover in the run in, in the hope they proved themselves good enough for the step up.
They obviously haven’t done that, or shown enough in training to prove they are good enough for the Championship.

By going out on loan it gives them game time to sharpen up and either prove they are worth keeping or gain themselves a permanent move elsewhere.
