Am I right in thinking in the business world of sports retail ?
Peut être!

1 February 2011 at 2:27 am #57647someone touched on it on another thread – it would have been interesting to see whelans reaction if the offer had been made earlier in the transfer window – whelan is not stupid if he had sold nzogbia at such a late stage,he would have lost the fans support totally and you all know it.
just remember whelan still has his prize assett and i think you may find that if newcastle came calling in the summer there would be no quibble on letting a clash of personalities get in the way of business.

Good point LMB and very interesting it would have been but it all snowballed from the Torres/Carroll transfer
As it said on SSN far to late in the night for us to get somebody in
1 February 2011 at 2:40 am #57659If DW didn’t care about the well bring of WAFC, he would have taken the £12M and not given a second thought to whether we had time to sign anyone else.
Well done DW.1 February 2011 at 2:41 am #57661someone touched on it on another thread – it would have been interesting to see whelans reaction if the offer had been made earlier in the transfer window – whelan is not stupid if he had sold nzogbia at such a late stage,he would have lost the fans support totally and you all know it.just remember whelan still has his prize assett and i think you may find that if newcastle came calling in the summer there would be no quibble on letting a clash of personalities get in the way of business.

the guys not daftdavid whelan put down his marker weeks and weeks ago regarding taking a risk on losing 60 million next season by not sacking martinez – one thing is a fact survive or not nzogbia will still be valued at about 10 mill or so in the summer, if his form manages to keep us in this league against the odds, his stock will rise way above the 12 mill newcastle offered, as i said before if the offer had come in earlier the thinking would have altered.

Like I said if the offer would have come in before we would have ad time to make enquiries with other clubs about available players
1 February 2011 at 3:10 am #57667Like I said if the offer would have come in before we would have ad time to make enquiries with other clubs about available playersthat is obvious – i am not knocking whelan – he told sky sports the facts -the offer is/was to late, but some on here think it was in someway a statement of intent from whelan –
if he is that concerned about staying in this league the signing of an unproven kid from scotland does not scream out a battle cry for the coming months.1 February 2011 at 3:18 am #57670Fair play to DW turning down £12 mill surprised me that did.

We will just have to wait and see on that score LMB regarding the young kid if he plays owt like The two jimmys who came down from that neck of the woods we may not do to wrong
£200 million pound spent in the transfer window for January some big hitters in this league now can I ask you for the transfer league table where you said that we were the ninth highest spenders in the league and what position we are now please

i would imagine that we would be about the same in 9th place, perhaps dropped a place now – about 182 million of that 200mill has been spent by just 4 clubs, apart from villa those other teams spent more than us last summer
chelsea 71 mill
liverpool 58 mill
city 27 mill
villa 24 millmartinez was not starved of funds in the summer by whelan as some on here claimed.
