Watching at work….30 mins …..f####### dreadful. Not strung 2 passes together…..they’ve made 11 changes since Saturday and look like Real Madrid. Asamoah,Costelloe not touched the ball .Their movement ,passing, breaking at pace is far superior .Seriously having my doubts about our squad . I actually believed a few weeks ago we had a decent ontime e but Wycombe making us look non league. Costelloe look completely out of his depth……Wycombe look like they can threaten at will…….Half time need changes……..
23 September 2025 at 8:43 pm #206157Half time….we haven’t 1 player out there who can tackle. Every challenge and every 2nd ball won by Wycombe. Their passing is the most notable difference…….doesn’t help playing minus a midfield…..so much for bounce back……hopefully changes 2nd half and we can get involved.
23 September 2025 at 9:20 pm #206158F### me…….back to work. God help us Saturday. Decent 11 when available but generally that’s it. No depth.
23 September 2025 at 10:49 pm #206159I honestly think we decided to bow out the competition. I’m serious. Nobody would ever admit it, but I reckon we did.
I’m not really bothered myself. This squad is still very short and its not strong enough for a cup run. I’d sooner have 3 points on Saturday.
24 September 2025 at 6:35 am #206166We had the perfect opportunity to enter into the last 16 and a potential money spinner something we desperately need.
Now it might just be me but, why was the scoreboard not working ? save on paying someone to operate it? no one announced the sides.
Then the shutters were closed from the concourse to certain entrances, why? save on paying a steward to man the opening.
As for the game?, worrying. That’s 6 in 2 and with an in form Cardiff on their way.
Couldn’t tackle save our lifes,
No shots on target and their keeper didn’t have to make a save. 2 corners to 8 to Wycombe shows which way the traffic was going.
I don’t know a player or manager who walks onto a field of play hoping they’d lose.
If this was the EFL Trophy granted I couldn’t care less but to get to the last 16?, for me there’s cracks appearing.
Preston fans and Plymouth fans alike pre warned us of things to come with Lowe but you kinda put that down to sour grapes but I personally feel the cracks are slowly appearing and last night’s stats were ugly against a fairly strong Latics sides no kids so to speak.
It’s mish mash style of football that I can’t get my head round and I’m not quite sure what we’re trying to achieve.
Balls going into the air in the box with no one in there to head them, utter pointless but we kept trying it over and over again with no success.
Then, the dreaded, pass forward turn go back has suddenly crept into our game.
Couple this with Saturday up at Horwich and a few away performances this season we’ve had 2 matches were I’ve thought, Jesus we could nick a play off spot only to play the likes of Leyton Orient Bolton and Wycombe and think, Jesus if we play like that we’ll be in a bottom of the table dog fight.
I’ve said it before, it’s all about consistency and we’ve exactly none. We can’t blame poor performances on injuries as every week we’ll have a min of 2-3 missing that’s football so when they are missing we have to perform better than that.
The one player who I’m less impressed with is Costelloe, I think he struggles with the physicality of the L1. He never gets the better of a centre half and always seems to be on the wrong side of the defender.
I don’t know, I’m lost, what seemed like a good plan and a side of hungry players at the beginning of the season and a brave manager is now turning into a kick n rush side that’s simply been mopped up by the opposition.
As for Wycombe? they played well, chased every ball down up till the end a super fit and hungry side.
It will be interesting to see if we go 3 at the back against Cardiff because they play 4-5-1 and they’ll flood us for sure just like Horwich.
This is all down to recruitment, our squad is not good enough. Bar Tickle I don’t see one Latics signed player who you would say, he’s exciting, he’ll go for top dollar, not one.
I was hoping Rodrigues and Asamoah would come in and show he manager why he should pick them and both sadly failed to impress.
I don’t know, I’m sat typing looking up scratching my head thinking are we a decent side just not playing well or has the cloak dropped to the floor revealing who we really are?
Juries out but if we’re to even think of a top 10 spot we have to at least look competitive against the Bolton’s Leyton Orients and Cardiff’s Saturday will tell me more. We need to turn up even if we lose just turn up

24 September 2025 at 7:26 am #206170And listening to Lowes post match comments he’s spot on,
No shots on target,
Poor second goal to concede,
Those who came in to stake a claim failed miserably,
The perfect opportunity missed for a potential big night in the last 16 gone,
Simply not good enough.
As I have said before, there’s a fine line with winning or losing a changing room so Lowe needs to walk that line carefully.
He looked like deep down he was seathing a very unhappy manager with the back to back performances, to him, unacceptable.
I’m all for roastings and bollockings but he needs to be careful who you and when you call folk out and definitely not in public because it can easily turn on you in the blink of an eye

24 September 2025 at 3:21 pm #206180A massive turnaround from the Doncaster game , no punch, flat performance but worse still very reminiscent of the team last season which is even more disturbing.
To get to the last 16 and potentially earn a big pay day would have been massive but treating the game as a reserve game with no scoreboard and no teams read out etc sends out bad messages off and on the pitch in my opinion
Opposition teams sometimes pick up on flat atmospheres and Wycombe most certainly did that last night, took full advantage and they deserved their reward.
A lot to do before Saturday with arguably the best team in the division coming to town.
24 September 2025 at 11:04 pm #206182We would have drawn Fulham at home.
Im glad we’re out.
25 September 2025 at 6:03 am #206188Fulham , feel sorry for them , what could be worse as a draw ?
would still have been a west stand only that one for sure.25 September 2025 at 7:48 am #206189After sleeping on the performance for a couple of nights I’m actually more p##### off than on the night. Wycombe as we know made wholesale changes…in fact 6 of their regular starters didn’t even travel !…..Up until the linesman getting injured(20 ish minutes?)we hadn’t touched the ball. They were making us look like a pub team. Asamoah and Rodrigues who looked decent when coming on against a 3-0 up,foot off the gas Bolton looked poor. In fact apart from Tickle the rest should donate any appearance money to charity. Our cup history has always been a source of immense pride to me ….whatever the cup. That lilly livered, sleepwalking, spineless effort against a league 1 reserve side was inexcusable. Makes Lowes job easy………he knows who starts now,and who’s up for it Saturday and who needs a f###### boot up the arse,or F####### off to the development squad………….really need a big performance Saturday or else the season could really tailspin downwards.
11 October 2025 at 6:10 pm #206261I’ve come away confused, I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s not happening for Lowe. I want it to go well for him simply because he started off so well.
Is it Lowe or is it the players ? that’s the bit I’m confused with or is it a bit of both ?.
We’re playing with three up front
Ooooops sorry, one forward because I don’t class Saydee or Costelloe as potential goal scorers.
There’s a problem and to me it doesn’t look good.
Has Lowe lost the changing room?. Someone said the players aren’t happy with the super intense training methods basically over cooking the players.
Whatever it is it needs ironing out
A.S.A.P
11 October 2025 at 6:49 pm #206262Difficult to win games if you are behind all the time.
If only we had a manager who could keep clean sheets
11 October 2025 at 6:53 pm #206263Im lost. That was insipid. Against a poor side up until late on we created zero. Presently Saydee looks like he’s playing in divers boots and never won a header as well as not being able to trap a house brick. Something seriously amiss….players look 10 yds slower than every team we play .Costelloe as I’ve stated previously never ever gets in front of his man when a ball played goalwards. F####### when bringing on Macamanamn is our rescue card .3 a the back kills us. Really worrying times.
11 October 2025 at 9:27 pm #206265If you concede goals so easy, but fail to score goals yourself, you are only going to end up going in one direction.
What has happened since we beat Doncaster 3 nil? We got totally smashed at Bolton, and myself and a lot of us just thought “ah, a really bad day at the office”. But its continued. The players just look so ‘off it’, and its worrying.
Has something gone on behind the scenes? Some fall out? Some disagreement? Has Lowe lost the dressing room? Is it a toxic dressing room? Who are the leaders in the squad? Because I am not seeing leaders out there during games. We lack steel and guile.
Something clearly isn’t right at all? Lowe’s comments…rant…tonight that we are nowhere near the days of ‘Cook, Richardson and Martinez’, is really worrying. For a manager to come out and reference former managers…could you have imagined Sir Alex Ferguson, when he was struggling at first, coming out and saying “we are nowhere near the Busby, Docherty or Atkinson days”? No chance. I am amazed Ryan Lowe came out and did that. Has he been told he has some pressure on him from inside the club? And when he said about us being “nowhere near the play offs this season”…well, as its a piss poor standard League One, I think he is playing a risky card there. He’s brought in around 7 or 8 of today’s squad and all things considered, and even taking into account he is still having to work with a lot of Maloney’s signings, we really SHOULD have more ambition than that. So is he saying these players are not upto it? Not good enough? I was shocked at his comments. And if I was a player hearing that, I’d be thinking the gaffer has no faith in us.
Was it a comment more to do with self-preservation? Is he under pressure from the owner, or board? Have words been said after Bolton? Is there any truth in dressing room unrest? Apparently players unhappy at the intense training. Are there bad apples in the squad? I believe our players ARE fitter than they were under Maloney. Ive heard they train a lot harder than they did under Maloney. Are they lazy f***ers? Maybe we just have a bad bunch. Personally, I dont like the character make up of this squad. Where are the leaders? Where is the Kavanagh? The McCulloch? The De Zeeuw? The Jackson? Players who would run through a brick wall for the cause. Players who would drag each other through the mire in games. We haven’t got them. Kerr is not a skipper…not in my mind. We haven’t got any gobshites in the squad. They’re too clean, too honest, too soft. Too many teams out battle us. We are too small as a squad.
We are in big trouble here, I’m sorry to say. If it is more down to the players than the manager, I hope that if he pays with his job, he comes out and calls players out. We’ve a squad here that will keep losing managers their job. We almost had that with Paul Jewell…and but for Whelan ‘having a word’, Jewell would have been another managerial casualty. That was years ago, I know. But have we a chairman now who will step in and ‘have a word’ if need be? Or has someone already been critical of the manager? He hasnt seemed himself at all. His body language and comments after Bolton, were a big surprise. And its been like that since.
Something is amiss.
11 October 2025 at 10:31 pm #206266Keep repeating it but our midfield is gutless…….not a tackler in there. We have problems all over the pitch. Teams waltz through us with no physical presence anywhere. Saydee can’t time his leaps to win a header and shields a ball that runs 6ft away. If Costelloe gets 3 goals this season I’ll be stunned. Raphael was dire ,thank f### he’s not ours whilst we loan out Johnny Smith……poor recruitment strategy. Same goes for Darcy and Mellish at least had some presence about him and an engine. Owner a billionaire but we’re shopping at Go Local and it shows…..not all down to Lowe….a lot of the players seem to be in eco mode…..don’t break sweat. This is not mid table form……..it’s undoubtedly bottom 4 form………rot needs stopping asap.
