I don’t generally get involved in debates on other boards but, seeing as how I’ve been invoked in absentia, on this thread, here I am.

I’m not sure how someone who wasn’t there can describe me, or anybody else for that matter as “starstruck”, simply because we didn’t kick Bob round the room for an hour and a half. If he says that we are a small step away from having a very good team, who am I to argue, at least until it turns out we actually aren’t?

Had the session degenerated into a bad-tempered affair, it would not only have been the first one, but probably the last. As it turns out, all concerned are keen to make them a monthly event. Only by building the relationship first, can that relationship then be tested. It’s all very well being Bertie Big B0ll0cks when you never have to front it up. Much like the Lib Dems can make any promise they want, knowing they’ll never have deliver on them.

It so happens that I was the one who asked about Gomez and Scotland. My actual question was along the lines of “have they been a disappointment?”. The answer was a categorical “No”, with the manager taking full responsibility for their less than stellar performances. How do I argue with that? Was I supposed to laugh and tell him to fvck off? Or perhaps should I have just called him a liar?

It’s not a case of “he said it so it must be true”. It’s a case of he said it, it’s reported, you make of it what you will.

The fact is that time will tell. 6 slightly varying reports of the same event will be enough proof either way, if it’s ever needed. It’s also clear that Bob will happily accept e-mails and letters from fans, so feel free to lay out your unanswered questions in whatever terms you think those who were present failed to use.

I guarantee he’ll answer mine before he answers yours.

Okay then, to all the lurkers and, in particular, Dave seeing as you started this thread.

Firstly, Dave, you chose Livesey’s post simply because you have your own ongoing argument with him. It would have been far more sensible to choose mine, seeing as how I posted the first message in that vein. Of course, the dozens of e-mails you send to both me and Jimmy begging to be let back on Mudhuts might have stopped you quoting me. Your opening post in this thread is precisely why you’re still not a member of MH.

Secondly, to everybody else, if you’re not calling for Bob to be sacked then my post wasn’t aimed at you, so some of you can take the head wands off and have a cup of tea instead of having a rant.

If everybody, nowadays, who talks about the good old days of Bob as a player actually watched him play, we’d have been averaging 20,000 a game. It is those people who falsely claim to have seen him who are now the ones turning on him. And Dave, we don’t need another 2,000 word diatribe of your exploits as a Latics fan, or in the Falklands, or any other delusion you’ve convinced yourself is real.

I’m sure there are good people on both CL and wiganer.net, and I have nothing but admiration for JH/Jay and anybody who admins any constantly changing website. I know how difficult it is just to keep things running, without anything else.

The fact is there are far too many gobshites on forums all over the internet who know nothing. For evidence see the dozens of threads posted since 5 o’clock yesterday. That we have so few (although we’re not entirely without, sometimes) of those on Mudhuts is simply a result of self-government. Opposing views are welcome, providing the argument is valid.

What makes me chuckle most, though, is how MH is constantly referred to as “elitist” like it’s a bad thing. Contrary to popular belief, most people on MH have only known each other for a few years. Lots of us were familiar faces to one another, but we were by no means friends, which shows that we are fully accepting of new people.

That those who use the Mudhuts site have had to make an effort, and think before they post, is why we aren’t infested with johnny anonymous types who use lots of words to actually say nothing. All are welcome on Mudhuts, but not all will stay. Some will leave of their own accord, some will be run off the board. There are no apologies for that. If you’re good enough, you’ll be accepted readily.

As for those who don’t like the magazine, don’t buy it. If you want a rah rah Whelan publication, buy the programme.

Again, for clarification, nothing in any post on recent Mudhuts threads is aimed at John Heeley or JayT. The criticism is of those of you who were wanting Bob Martinez to be knighted a few weeks ago, and now want him sacked.
