No reason. There would be a Wigan Athletic without Whelan. Just not quite as good. Was meant to put Big smile face not laughing face.I don’t think there would have been a Wigan Athletic.
If we had gone out of the League at the time he took over we would have disappeared like Maidstone.
We would now be a “phoenix club” in the North West Counties, or whatever it’s called these days.
