MK Dons next at the DW Stadium Match Preview
Match Preview for visit of MK Dons
After yet another frustrating night on Tuesday which saw Wigan Athletic lose to Charlton 1-0, we said things have got to start turning our way soon.
With the visit of MK Dons, lets hope soon becomes Saturday. A win is much needed for the effort and chances this young Latics side have produced.
The confidence levels would go through the roof if we could just put an end to the silly mistakes. We play well enough; you can count on one hand how many teams have actually played better than us.
The visitors arrive in town with not much care in the world, they won’t be pushing for the play offs and they definitely won’t get relegated.
Our record is pretty good against them, though we did lose at their gaff when we under performed and got what we deserved on the day, at 2-0 loss.
Are there any certainties in the game, well one of course. It is the first time we will have seen Will Grigg (apart from a cameo few minutes in the win at Sunderland) and we know its odds on he will score.
I for one don’t want him to be on fire, just have a nice quiet game, remembering his time with us. Other players that have played for both include Jimmy Bullard and Paul Mitchell.
We have played the dons on 5 occasions, 3 in the league which we have won 2 lost 1. 2 FA Cup games, with a draw and a win notched on our post.
That all means nothing because in those games we a team of players that had a coaching staff, scouting and prep. This team is running on bare bones and it is amazing what they are achieving with little to no resources.
Will we win, I have to say there is every chance if we cut out the silly mistakes. But in all likelihood we will have to work for it, keep Grigg under control and take our bloody chances when they arrive.
Here at CL we want to say big thank you to all the staff, players and backroom guys that are carrying on whilst all this chaos is happening all around them. Leam has showed what a true gent he is by taking the managers job and there are so many with him that should go down as Latics legends.
