Happy New year from all at Cockney Latic and for those that made the trip to St Andrew’s it started off with a bang. Latics 3-2 winners, away from home.

For the whole of 2019 we only won 1 away game, but what a game that was coming back from 1-0 down with ten men to not only win the match, but also wrecking Leeds’s season in the process.

Our Yorkshire hosts were flying high in the league and needed the win to stay 2nd in the table. This loss was enough for Sheffield United to open up a points gap that they never looked back on, as they were automatically promoted. Leeds went out in the play offs.

A lot of our fans walked in aid of Joseph’s Goal, what a fantastic way to round off a superb trip.

Anyway, back to Wigan winning away at Birmingham. I must admit it was a bittersweet moment for me as we were 3-1 up and finger was hovering on the cash out option having bet on that result. I waited a little too long and so was gutted along with being ecstatic at the win.

I fared much better on the coach for the return journey to Wigan as I made the money back on bestrealmoneyonlinecasinos.co.uk.

So, what does this mean for the rest of the season. The team morale and effort can’t really be faulted, we dominate in most games but haven’t had the results go our way, especially from home.

It would be easy to point the finger at Moore and recently Windass. Both have not exactly set the world on fire with their scoring prowess.

You could argue the tempo for going forward is not matched with the defensive urgencies (a pet hate of mine, all successful teams attack quickly and in numbers).

The next few games should see if the confidence gained from the Birmingham win is enough to start that run of results that will see us safe (and maybe even the play offs… ahem, how’s about that for getting carried away?).

Bristol are first up at home with Swansea away and Sheffield Wednesday back at the DW Stadium. If we get results from these 3 games, it should stand us in good form for the visit to Elland Road and take on PNE at home.

Paul Cook seems to have changed the tactics since injuries to Marshall, Mulgrew, Moore and the suspension of Dunkley. He had to and it seemed to steady things until the Forest game, another match where we did enough to get something out of the game.

With these players coming back to fitness and a couple of new signings to boot, we just hope he keeps the same formations whilst having more potential at his disposal.

Only time will tell, but like last season, we look to have enough in the team to get up that table, we just need it to happen a bit sooner than last term to save the nervy ending.
