Aston Villa are the first to table a firm bid for Charles N’Zogbia with a £10 million offer to lure him from the Wigan Athletic ranks.

It was going to happen sooner or later, Zog has a first offer. Not Newcastle or Sunderland speculation, but a £10 million bid which will test the resolve of Dave Whelan.

Personally I think that if Stuart Downing is supposedly worth £18 million we could get more for the Frenchman, but ten mill will buy a couple of new useful players and Victor Moses could quite happily fill the void.

Latics resurrected N’Zogbia’s career after a turbulent time at Newcastle, he gained his first two Caps for Les Blues (France) whilst with us and we have put him in the shop window to go on to bigger things.

He is in the last year of his contract though and a club like us can’t afford to just let him go on a free, so let’s hope we hold out for a few more million and that will give us the springboard to sign some more new young talent.
