Latics cruised to a well deserved victory in their first pre-season outing this evening as part of the training camp in Sweden, with Mauro Boselli netting an excellent solo goal on his return to the squad.

The highlight of the match came when the Argentine striker, back at Wigan after his six month loan spell in Genoa, struck a superb goal in the second half, running through the Swedish defence and producing a sharp finish.

Earlier, Victor Moses had got on the end of the lively Franco Di Santo’s assist to put Latics one goal to the good in what proved to be a useful training exercise in which the entire squad were given a run out.

The Östersunds reply came courtesy of a penalty, converted by Isaac Shaaze.

Roberto Martinez said he was delighted with the effort of the team. “These matches are about starting to get the players back to match sharpness and I have been happy with the work we have achieved in Sweden this week.”

The Latics players will return to the UK early next week, ready to continue their pre-season programme. Ed. Jones
