Match Preview for visit to Plymouth Argyle

Home Park has been a happy hunting ground in the recent past for Latics, winning on our last 3 visits, we last lost a game there back in 1998.

The last time we lost against Argyle, was in 2004 at the JJB Stadium. Times were very different then, sitting pretty at the top of the League and about to go on and gain a place in the Premier League for the first time in our history.

This time round though, we are looking and playing a little differently, and very much could do with back to back wins, to follow the superb result against MK Dons on Saturday.

There are 13 games to go, and this is one we would look to be able to do something with. Saturday saw rumours of a takeover come to light, where the deal could be done as soon as this week.

There did seem to be a lift in the spirits at the ground and that included the players who put on a great display to come out 3-0 winners. We kept Grigg quiet and although we rode our luck a little with the visitors hitting the word work a couple of times, we looked good enough for our win.

Plymouth are table wise in a similar position to MK Dons and so we should be able to do some damage if we can keep the same level of performance up, plus fend off the silly mistakes like we did on Saturday.

There are no new injury worries, though Scott Wootton will not be available due to Plymouth being his home club.

Full match is on Latics TV, remember the more fans that subscribe to it and watch the game, the more money goes into the bank for Wigan Athletic.

Past few performances read very similar, though Argyle did pull off a huge win over then leaders Lincoln, recently.

I think there will actually be plenty of opportunities in this game and if we take some of them, we will come out victorious to the tune of 2 or 3 nil. But Plymouth do like to score themselves, so I will lump for a 3-1 win to Latics
