Wigan Athletic’s Hugo Rodallega got firmly behind an incentive to raise much needed funds for a Charity that takes Colombian kids off the streets and teaches them to perform.
Circo Para Todos – Circus for All – is a scheme designed to take children off the streets in Cali, Colombia, and teach them the circus skills they may be able to use to better themselves in later life.
22 year-old British Unicyclist Gregory Bartlett rode 12 miles along the banks of the Leeds Liverpool Canal this week as part of a fundraising initiative for the charity, prior to travelling out to Cali and working for the charity, and Hugo was there to see him off.
Greg says: “Hugo was an absolute star for getting behind the idea. Circa Para Todas have so far seen 83 students graduate through their four year scheme and they are all now in full time employment – some with the best circuses in the world. Fifteen of them have actually bought houses for their families in Colombia!”
Rodallega, who is very active in several charities in Colombia already, added: “I am so impressed that someone from this country is giving up all this time and energy to help children back in my home country. If the Wigan fans could help too by donating even just a few pounds that would be fantastic.
“The Wigan people I have met have always been really special and I am sure they will help if they can.”
