Wigan Athletic are in the process of suring up some of their prised players as Ben Watson, James McCarthy and Hugo Rodallega will be offered contract extensions.
Now that Charles N’Zogbia’s deal with Aston Villa is nearly done, Roberto and Dave Whelan are looking to make sure that the rest of the squad is tied up and committed to Latics.
Hugo will return from International duty playing in the Copa America soon and he will be taken to one side almost immediately to be offered a new deal.
Dave Whelan said: “We’ll be talking to Hugo when he gets back from the Copa America, and as far as I know he’s happy here. We’d like him to stay.
“We’ve not had an offer in for Hugo, and I would imagine Roberto Martinez will be keen to get something sorted on that one. We do not want to be selling him, though – absolutely not.”
Midfielders Ben Watson and James McCarthy are also in line to sign new deals as speculation has been growing about possible interest about them.
