The FA Cup must be put on the back burner as two big Premiership games in 5 days take centre stage. Wigan Athletic will want to pick up some vital points from West Brom on Tuesday and Blackburn on Saturday.

Latics and West Brom just don’t do draws and that result will do neither team any good come Tuesday night. We travel to the Hawthornes knowing full well that this is the old six pointer game, win and we could swap places with our hosts, lose…… let’s not even think about it.

After West Brom we have Blackburn at home before we go on the fixture list from hell where we will play United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs….. so we need points badly before these games kick in.

The Baggies have only won once in their last seven and lie just three points ahead of us, a win by three goals would ensure we jump above them in the league. It looks for the moment that we won’t have lost anybody in the transfer window and so we should have a near full contingent.

Roberto Martinez will inevitably make changes to the team that played Bolton at the weekend, but Alcaraz and Cleverley look like they won’t recover in time for this game, but Di Santo, Rodallega, N’Zogbia and Moses will give the gaffer extra options.

Phil Dowd will look after the teams, he refereed 19 games in the Premiership so far dishing out 68 yellow cards and 6 red.
