Wigan Athletic 2022 – 2023 EFL Championship Season Fixtures

2022/23 Fixtures release

Wigan Athletic are back where we started before that fateful day when we were plunged into administration. Leam Richardson has pulled off nothing short of a miracle, firstly keeping us in League One on a shoestring with mainly academy players. Then secondly building a team that took last season’s tiltle against all the odds.

Latics will kick-off the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship campaign with a home fixture against our local rivals Preston North End, before hitting the (long) road to Norfolk a week later where newly relegated Norwich City will be our hosts. Further away games in the first month see us travel to Coventry City and Birmingham City.

Due to the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar during the winter months, fixtures will pause from the 12 November to the 10 December.

The traditional Boxing Day fixture will see Latics travel to Middlesbrough, with the final game of 2022 seeing Latics host Sunderland at the DW on Thursday 29 December.

2023 kicks off on New Years’ Day with Hull City visiting the DW, whilst our first trip on the road in the New Year is to Wales to face Cardiff City on Saturday 14 January.

At Easter, Latics face a Good Friday trip to Sheffield United before an Easter Monday home clash against Swansea City. The final game of the season will see us at home hosting Rotherham United.
