This is a game that Wigan Athletic should be able to put all the recent bad run behind them. Stoke have managed to grab some much needed points lately to climb out of the mire, coincidentally since Pulis whinged like a big girl on national TV about the bad decisions his team was getting.

Roberto needs to get a minimum of 5 points out of the next 4 games and this is one that he will be looking to get over half of them. As long as we can cope with the inevitable crunching tackles and general bullying we should be able to roll Stoke over.

Things didn’t go too well in midweek and so a more up tempo game is what is called for, that is as long as we get a referee that will let us do that, preferably not Martin Atkinson. There is no big ego’s or names on the pitch and so the officials should hopefully give us the rub of the green for a change.

Stoke have no new injury worries whereas Bobby has to look at the Christmas period without both McCarthy and now Victor Moses after he dislocated his shoulder in midweek.

The referee will be Mike Jones from Chester who has looked over a Stoke win this season but has not yet been in charge of Wigan. He is a bit card happy with 48 yellows and 2 red cards from his 14 games this season
