Yet again Latics manage to play Spurs on a Sunday. It is becoming a foregone conclusion now That Wigan Athletic will never play Tottenham Hotspur at 3 p.m. on a Saturday.
Latics travel down to the Capital with just Maynor Figueroa a doubt, although we did hear that his stint on the recovery table will be a lot shorter than was once thought. The talented left back could well be back in the mix for the Sunderland match next well, but this game is probably a little bit early for him.
Erik Edman, a former Spurs player will more than likely fill in as Roberto will probably play an unchanged team to the one that unluckily drew with Fulham. Spurs will see the return of Aaron Lennon and Sebastian Bassong, but Ledley King and Luka Moderic are both very big doubts.
Cudicini will be out for quite a while after his motorbike accident shattered his wrists and Pelvis, whilst Giovani will sit this one out with his ankle injury. Robbie Keane will probably play even though his heart was crushed and shredded on Tuesday night as Henry and France cheated their way to the World Cup finals at Ireland’s expense.
One of the reasons why this game is being played on a Sunday is Wilson Palacios who will play against us for the first time since his big money move down to Spurs. He along with quite a few others were thought to be in World cup action on Thursday and were given the extra time to recover from their games. To be fair there were potentially two or three Latics players that could have been affected as well.
Roberto will be looking for another great performance against a top half team, we currently have a better record against the supposed better teams in the league. The last time out was the only time we have ever beaten our opposition and we have never won at White Hart Lane, so maybe we are due our fourth victory in the Capital in our 23rd attempt.
The referee will be Peter Walton
