Wigan Athletic have a mission this Sunday, firstly secure the win to see us fight another day, secondly to secure the win to give what the football supporting country want (relegate West Ham United).
Although a draw would probably still give us a lifeline for the final game of the season, in reality we need to win to leave it in our own hands.
Hoping for Blackpool, Wolves, Birmingham and Blackburn to lose their final two games is a very tall ask. With Wolves playing Rovers on the last day, it is impossible anyway, but what a win will do is leave our fate in our own hands come the final game.
Martinez has not had back to back wins all season in the League and this would be a brilliant time to get the first one. The crowd certainly will be behind Latics as we near a sell out – please remember that tickets will not be sold on the day, you have until noon on Saturday to secure one.
We supporters will need to be on top form for this game, as with a full away end contingent, we will need to be loud to drown them out. Scott Parker is looking to be making his return for the game and we all know how excitable the Hammers fans get about their darling playing.
Roberto looks to have all his squad available to him, with the possible exception of Mohammed Diame. With the players at his disposal we just need two more good performances to see us through.
Come on guys, get to the ground and shout the roof down…..
Mike Dean will be the referee.
