Roberto Martinez is rumoured to be monitoring the situation with Trinidad and Tobago star Jason Scotland as Burnley make bid

At 30 years old the inform striker isn’t the youngest player about but his 24 goals last term has shown that he could manage at a higher level and Burnley have reportedly tabled a verbal bid for the player.

Although the sounds out of Latics are that we are not concerned about the player, there are rumours drifting about that Martinez is watching the situation.

Bobby signed the player for Swansea two years ago and is still a big admirer of the strong forward, but Huw Jenkins, the Swansea chairman, is rubbishing the notion that his star striker is leaving or that he has been asked to keep the clubs informed as to the players availability.

He said: “It doesn’t exist, I would never agree to that. We have still had no written offer from any club for Jason Scotland, and not even verbal interest from Wigan. “I have had no conversation from anyone at Wigan for the last four or five days.

“We have had interest from Burnley, but no written offer. Jason is back next week, and his first job will be to meet our new manager. We want to keep all our best players at the club”
