The Auto Windscreens/Freight Rover/Johnstone’s Paint etc etc could be very different when we’re next in it…
League One and Two clubs have been asked to consider proposals allowing Premier League Under-21 clubs to take part in the Football League Trophy.
The proposal was one of many aired at a recent meeting at St George’s Park to discuss issues arising from the FA Chairman’s England Commission.
It would see a change in format for the Trophy, with a group system being brought in.
Appalling idea, once again pandering to the Premier League. It will make no difference to the quality of England in the future, and it means that the opportunity for Bristol City or Rochdale or York City – or even yes Wigan Athletic – to get to Wembley will be diminished.
Who is going to watch a Wembley final between Newcastle B and Arsenal B?
Stupid idea. Better idea, scrap the premier league. It ha made no difference to the English national team. It has done nothing for English football other than further inflate the oversized egos of overated players and just lined the pockets of underserving players and their parasitic agents.
