Heard rumours of trouble on the bridge after the game-anyone witness? My daughters phone was buzzing with tweets, saying how it had kicked off.
I was going to park on frog lane side for once but decided against it,looks like we’ve missed all the fun.

Canal Bridge
I was lucky to escape the trouble on the bridge caused by the scum from Southampton. It had started when my son and I got there so I was able to keep some distance away but could see what was going on. Grown men aged around 40 throwing coins and attempting to punch other men who where walking home with their kids! There was women and old people on that bridge on their way home from a football match with coins being thrown at them.I suppose every club has morons, but my question is where was the Police ? When it had all passed by and the scum had walked off down the canal (shame they didn’t fall in it) the Police arrived with 2 horses. I asked where had they been? I was told by one of them that the club hadn’t paid for Policing at the game and the horses where there on a training exercise.
So my point is if they aren’t paid by the club to Police a game, do they allow a bunch of morons to cause trouble some distance away from the ground and do nothing about it ?Because that is what happend today
3 February 2013 at 12:25 am #102410so we got done on and off the pitch today, brilliant.

I was there it was literally about 15- 20 Southampton fans threatening, swearing and generally causing trouble, trying to pick a fight with mainly old men women and children, the Wigan fans did shout back and a couple of minor scuffles broke out but nothing major, all in all the Wigan fans were very well behaved
It could of very easily kicked if we did retaliate but nobody other than the Southampton fans wanted to fight.
They really were the scum of the earth.
3 February 2013 at 12:31 am #102412I saw it. 20 lads aged between 18-30 from Southampton decided to come round with no police in sight shouting ‘where are ya Wigan?’ and came looking for a fight just as you cross over bridge. The majority on the bridge were families and young kids but that didnt stop them attacking folk. They then started spitting on fans. Few lone Wiganers retaliated. Punches were thrown then last I saw these southern hardmen were fighting with a local woman in her late 20s who squared up to them. Take it all round it was pretty pathetic. Still dont understand why we have no police presence given its always possible trouble could occur there. All it takes a few pricks in a pack to behave like bullies.
3 February 2013 at 12:39 am #102413sound like a bunch of soft southern bastards to me picking on women and kids, if you want to have a do at football do it with lads who will have a do back, should bombard their website with abuse, fucking cowards
3 February 2013 at 2:07 am #102424i’m sorry to hear that there was bother. A far cry from the good-natured snowball fights that were taking place around the ground and on that bridge between Wigan & Sunderland fans a fortnight ago.
3 February 2013 at 1:38 pm #102459Didn’t see many Police and surely the public should be protected from situations like this.

3 February 2013 at 4:12 pm #102471Did nobody end up in the canal?
3 February 2013 at 5:08 pm #102483dave wheelan needs to respond to thisWhat’s it to do with Dave Whelan (spelt correctly)? These were public order offences allegedly being committed away from the stadium. Purely a policing matter. Write to GMP.
