I really hope we can keep up the half decent run we were starting before the International break…..
That defence has got to sure itself up, the goals will take care of themselves I feel.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
13 October 2016 at 12:21 pm #151406A draw written all over it however if we can play to our potential a 2-1 or 1 nil win.
13 October 2016 at 1:06 pm #151407It’s a difficult one to call as they seem to have completely changed their style. Last season they didn’t score many and and seemed to concede even less. This year theyve scored a fair few but let a fair few in as well so it’s hard to know what to expect bit I have a good gut feeling
13 October 2016 at 5:24 pm #151408All depends on how GC intends to play. Burton have done their homework on us in past games. Every time we play them they defend from the front, closing our defenders down who are trying to play from the back. We get unsettled and no rhythm is found and we end up looking really shaky at the back.
So if GC plays his normal way then i’m not expecting much. If he changes his approach then we can beat them as they do concede away from home..Burton haven’t won away yet, lost 2 away & drawn the rest. They’ve scored in every away game though. Pretty decent at set pieces too so will be a tough encounter this one.
If we get the ball up field quickly and run at their defence then we can win this one….
13 October 2016 at 10:09 pm #151409Hope Jake Buxton can continue how he finished the Wolves game with that wonderful pass.
Precision passing like that can unsettle any midfield and defence and if he can continue like that with Will on his lonesome and an attacking midfielder along side or just behind him we could stroll games.13 October 2016 at 11:30 pm #151410Iam not hoping to win iam expecting to win. No disresrect but we should be beating teams like Burton at home if we are intending to progress in this league.

No disresrect but we should be beating teams like Burton at home if we are intending to progress in this league. We haven’t beat them yet and don’t see us doing it Saturday to be honest as I expect GC will not set us up to be attacking and Burton are very likely to get at least 1. A draw is the probable outcome but it would not surprise me in the least if we lose. Plenty of the ball with little real threat. Hope I’m wrong and we bounce them.

Ithink thats the problem Nuneaton, we have plenty of ball but no real threat. I’ve not seen any thing in this league yet to be frightrned of, but the difference is the better teams take their chances when thy come and we need to start doing this.14 October 2016 at 12:45 am #151413We all know GC won’t set us up to be attacking, he never does. It will be more of the same, passing it about for no reason but to keep the ball and get nowhere fast.
We will no doubt be the same as those boring tossers on Tuesday night, passing ourselves into trouble with little threat up front and having to rely on our keeper to grab a point.
Sorry to be so negative, but this dreary posession based pass it around for the sake of it shite does not fill me with much confidence or enthusiasm at the moment.
I hope I am wrong and the posession and passing it about 40 times before we get in the final third bollox is abandoned and we show a bit more urgency and get the ball forward instead of backwards and sideways.
I thought this negative crap had left us when boring Bob buggered off, but it seems to have re-appeared with a vengeance of late.

Not so sure we’d like to see long ball football every week Donny but as a tactical variation when needed would be nice. Sign of a good manager is one that can change tac tics mid game. I can recall a game against Bournemouth a couple of years ago where Howe did it three times. They beat us 1-3 I think?
We’re a bit too predictable at the moment.
14 October 2016 at 1:29 am #151415Thanks Jimmy I know and would never want to see a big boot game. It is lovely to see passing but not the monotonous droll that Horc describes above. A mix of football. passing, long balls, short balls. Pass and move, runs, balls through the middle, balls in the air in the box. Traditional Latics football before it was outlawed as being old fashioned.
Hope this ridiculous break we have just had changes things and we go out all guns blazing and the momentum of two shots on target a game will be broken. But what happens if Burton do a Nob End on us. All The Nobbers had to do was sit back and wait for us to loose possession.14 October 2016 at 2:46 am #151416Can I just say that one of the greatest goals in World Cup history came from a long baii. Holland v Argentina De Boer to Bergkamp sheer brilliance.
14 October 2016 at 2:55 am #151417We are too dull, boring and predictable at the moment, just mix it up a bit Gary, that is all we are asking.

Horc, that was some of the worst football I have ever seen the other night pundits and ex pros have been saying that when Rooney plays it slows the play down. How the fcuk could they have played any slower while he was on the bench?. I understand in the league that has so many foreign managers and players that these negative formations suit the clubs but in international games every player is English the manager is English and the best we can be is English. Passing seven bells of shite out of the ball is not our way it is horrible to watch. Get back to doing it the way all our players were coached as youngsters. We are England so lets be fookin English not Italian, Spanish etc.
14 October 2016 at 3:33 am #151420We will win Saturday and possibly go on a decent run, like last year
Optimist is very seldom happy
