Paul Cook and Jonathon Jackson to stay along with many others (pages 26-27) and Joe and Darren Royle onto the Board
In summary:
Takeover to be put to shareholders of IEC on 2 November
Most of current senior staff including JJ and PC to stay
Joe Royle and his son to join board
Money to be put into developing youth players for the club… and sorry, chaps, but Warriors staing, although they will be looking at using the stadium for concerts etc
This is just from a skim-read so I may have missed some bits
I don’t have a clue how businesses are run and I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but after a quick skim through, before my brain started hurting too much, I think it’s safe to say we won’t be spending fortunes on new players.
Now whether that means we also won’t be giving big pay rises to our current squad I have no idea, but it looks like the focus will be on developing youth.

That’s my interpretation too. The focus will be on developing our own – something people on here have championed for ages, so let’s see who now decides it’s a bad idea.
The focus is however to get to teh PL, but they (tbh like the Whelans) look as though they will be careful custodians, which to me is a good idea.
They will not be splashing huge amounts of cash like some owners, who then lose interest or who panic if things go wrong. The new owners seem to be aiming for the PL, but also accept that there may be a risk of relegation again and are mitigsating for it. They will manage the budgets carefully.

I’ve said before that I predict in a few years some of the bigger clubs will convert to rugby union, as that’s where bigger money and higher national profile will be, as RL caters for smaller and smaller audiences. Once a few go, like Warriors, Saints, Leeds, then the game will end up being on a par with hockey.

If RL fans wanted to watch Rugby Union then they could but they don’t like the sport so they watch League instead.
I think what would be more likely is that the “big clubs” join some competition including the NRL clubs whilst the others revert to part time status.
The RFL authorities need to accept what RL is – a small localised sport. If it was going to expand the way they envisaged that it would have done long ago. It hadn’t, not because enough people hadn’t heard or seen it but because they had & didn’t like it enough to start playing it or watching it regularly
That’s not a dig at RL – I like it (not enough to pay to watch it on top of the other things I like doing which cost my time & money), but it is what it is
