OK I take it back ,Max Power should be the first player on the team sheet in midfield. Completely wasted at full back. As soon as Leam re jigged the formation and put Max in midfield we were a different proposition. Oxford looked a good side but as soon as we got in their faces and did not give them any time on the ball they did not like it . Second half we deserved to get the winner but did not get that bit of luck. Tough run of games coming up but if we play as we did from about the half hour mark we are a match for any team in this league.
2 February 2022 at 9:17 am #195270I would add to that that Darikwa should not be played as a left back – the difference in his confidence was evident the minute he was swapped back to the right-hand side!
2 February 2022 at 9:26 am #195271Its strange how in this modern era, full backs seem to only be able to play on the side which they favour with their foot. I’d have thought that when facing these inverted wingers that cut inside 99% of the time, having a left-footed full back on the right would help them make a tackle when the winger cuts inside.
Its very rare these days to see anyone go on the outside and then whip over a cross without having first checked back.

Sorry ,forgot to mention Darikwa. We can’t keep playing him at left back just to get him into the side. He is a different player on the right and should stay there.
2 February 2022 at 10:05 am #195273Hopefully, one of the positive from last night’s game is it should clear some of the permutations that Leam must be thinking of when selecting him team.
2 February 2022 at 10:29 am #195274Firstly you gotta ask yourself why Power and Darikwa were put at right and left back ?,
To accommodate Shinnie it’s as simple as that. They were put into positions that don’t suit especially when were on a run of 20 unbeaten games.
This upset the apple cart and the whole balance of the team. Other than that Richardson would have had to drop either Power or Darikwa.
As for Shinnie ? simply not good enough. He gave the ball away at least 8 times and every pass was side or back. He cannot play with the intensity we play at and at times looked lost.
As soon as we swapped things Power puts the ball through for Lang. Power was then charging down and breaking play up making Oxford to make mistakes something Shinnie simply cannot do.
The way everyone was talking I was expecting a Barry Bannan type player stitching the defence to the attackers but what I saw was someone well off the pace and looked incapable of making things happen, Humphrys and Lang were starved. If it were me I would have took him off with 20 to go and put Thelo on to try and unlock theem.
I just don’t get Richardson tinkering with something so drastic when it certainly ain’t broke.Yes swap when injured or tired but for the sake of it ?, we’ve 37 pro’s on the books 37. I thought Humphrys gave it all, I just hope he can start to grab a few goals as that’s all he’s missing but he put a shift in for sure
2 February 2022 at 10:54 am #195277Shinnie the scapegoat I see.
FYI….Power was already playing RB and Daeikwa LB so that Cousins could play. So if we had a fully fit side, Power would already be at RB. He isn’t one of our first choice centre mids (rightly or wrongly)
2 February 2022 at 5:46 pm #195280Pmsl, Shinnie fan, I’m afraid he isn’t good enough if you think he’s played well fill yer boots my friend but try taking those Rooney tinted shades off then read the stats,
Blacks white whites black (yawns at the boring fart comment)
Power is the best midfielder at the club. It’s about taking your chance when the opportunity comes.
As for Cousins?, no point in talking about past tense. He won’t be apart of anything this season2 February 2022 at 6:04 pm #195283What stats would they be?
2 February 2022 at 6:13 pm #195284Not a “Shnnie fan” btw, just not writing him off after 3 games.
2 February 2022 at 6:15 pm #195285You’re right about cousins though. He wont play again. Good job really, cos if he did Power would be at RB
2 February 2022 at 7:29 pm #195286It’s all about opinions. I thought Shinnie looked great with a drop of the shoulder here and there and liking up playing, most of the time.
2 February 2022 at 10:21 pm #195288Sweet Jesus Of Nazareth !!!! What f##kin game were you watching ??? .. it wasn’t the same as me.
He gave the ball away at every opportunity,He rarely if ever passes forward,
He spent more time in the back 4 than in the middle
When he did pass forward it did connected but the problem was it was to an Oxford player.
Was it a coincidence or luck that as soon as Power moved in the middle things happened ?.
He was lost totally lost not knowing how to keep up with the intense pace we set. Good pro’s don’t need 4-6 weeks settle they just drop in, take McClean?, straight feet hit the ground running.
To drop in to a winning side up there you have to be as good as what you already have and he is clearly not
Drop shoulder tickled me that
3 February 2022 at 7:42 am #195293Hey don’t forget the Wee Donkey!
Shinnie shines, Power provides. I thought Max had more freedom to push forward with Shinnie beside, and sometimes behind him.
Looking forward to Saturday’s combination and maybe Thelo getting some time.

I think your auto correct was stuck on, I think it meant to say:
Shinnie sh1tes
Look I WANT him to perform well. I wanted him to come in and add to the squad especially with all the games to come.I’ve seen 3 games with Shinnie on the pitch and he certainly no better infact worse than we already had.
Again, the Oxford game spoke volumes. I think the players who played against Stoke would be a far better option than Shinnie.
Against Stoke the difference was that bit of class up front.
Magennis misses a glorious chance while there 2nd goal was scored from a very similar position.
And as for Magennis ?, there’s another who has come in and shown absolutely nothing. -
