Out last night for couple of pints and called in at The Globe At Standish.
It is a place where my parents always like to go. They go with friends, one of whom is a director at Wigan Athletic and his wife.
As you do, went over to ask if they wanted a drink and had a bit of a chat. I don’t know how true this is, but it’s certainly from a reliable source.

“Planning permission has been sought by Wigan Warriors to build a new stadium in Marus Bridge” :?:22 March 2010 at 7:12 pm #27344Out last night for couple of pints and called in at The Globe At Standish.

Normally, “reliable sources” are anonymous. I’m sure the fella is just made up about being quoted on a public forum.
22 March 2010 at 7:15 pm #27345Bet he’ll chat to you again, as well……………
22 March 2010 at 7:17 pm #27346This editing really is a modern day marvel. 8-)
22 March 2010 at 7:23 pm #27347If they’ve actually applied for planning permission (as opposed to it just being a load of made up guff) then, if not already in the public domain, it’ll be in it soon enough

Which I will
22 March 2010 at 9:21 pm #27356Correct me if im wrong, but didn’t the warriors sign like a 100 year lease at the beginning of last year?
22 March 2010 at 9:45 pm #27358Correct me if im wrong, but didn’t the warriors sign like a 100 year lease at the beginning of last year?It was a 50 year agreement. There is nothing to stop them moving, the lease thing was to ensure they have a home. We have to honour the lease if they want to stay, but they don’t have to stay.
22 March 2010 at 9:46 pm #27359Thought it was a 25 year lease just like we did.
Not that it matters either way………
22 March 2010 at 10:03 pm #27361As you do, went over to ask if they wanted a drink
That’s where my credibility ends – ask someone else if they want a drink?
No way!!
22 March 2010 at 11:26 pm #27366Planning permission costs next to nothing, probably just an off the cuff enquiry, should they ever fall out with Uncle Dave. I think the present arrangement suits both the football and rugby club and it would be costly to either club to change things.
23 March 2010 at 12:13 am #27375great now we can stick our banners all round the ground without having to put them up every home game not that there is that many but am proud of mine anyway :P
