I noticed a guy had posted something on the Warriors moving to Marus Bridge thread about his flag being up at home games and was wondering what has happened to the flags we used to have home and away.
I have a flag – WAFC The Religion, blue, white and green but i’ve stopped taking it to both home and away games. I used to take it everywhere and stopped a couple of seasons ago.
Has anybody else got a flag? Do you take it to games? There’s only a few at the side of the east I see and the Ireland flag at the top of the west which is there every home game.
I have been considering taking mine again, it will make it’s appearance at the city of manchester next monday then the 3 remaining home games. May bring us some luck!
Petition for more flags!
23 March 2010 at 7:01 pm #27432would you be willing to sell that mate, as i do go to every home and away game it would then be used every week obviously or i could just take it to games for you when your not there.
23 March 2010 at 7:15 pm #27434I have thought about selling it but never thought anybody would be interested to be honest as I designed it myself and paid quite a bit for it (around £150).
I have considered getting a new one but not whilst i’ve still got this one.
23 March 2010 at 7:19 pm #27435i might be intrested during the summer sometime i cant afford it during the season, it doesnt help as iam out of work at the moment :(
23 March 2010 at 7:23 pm #27436No problem pal, if you are going to use it more often than me then i’ll gladly sell it to you.
I don’t go to as many home games as I used to, not as enjoyable, we are constantly ripped off at most grounds and we tend to lose more than we win (fine example at the reebok last week, over 2,000 fans, worst performance i’ve seen for a while).
I do most local games and will be at City next week but if you go to most/all away games and you’ll be taking it every game you will get more use out of it than I will.
23 March 2010 at 7:30 pm #27437couldnt agree more, this is certainly the most overhyped league there is :( . iv just asked a few mates on facebook to chuck in for it and one has already said hed give 50 himself but it would have to be early april sometime before he can do it. il try and get you your 150 back for it or as close to as possible.
23 March 2010 at 9:36 pm #27444Drop us a private message on here and let me know either way mate.

Its agood idea if we could get every one who has a flag to bring em to the home games but would it not cause a problem if 20 or more decent size flags were on seat area. going back over the years ive seen some crackers on our away days.pub names on the flags buzzin. get the ball rolling alex
24 March 2010 at 12:28 am #27457in reply to alex the point i was making, was that we could hang our flags or banners high up in the roof like them chubby fans have done for some charity or summat.apparently they put um up in the south stand each game and now that they mite be buggering off we cudreplace them with our own.what do u think?lets have loads of flags for the last game.

I take a Spain flag to every home and away game. 14 games into the home games and a steward (who i have never seen before) asked me to take the flag down. Now i take the flag in support of our manager and there have been numerous times when Martinez has said to me that he loves seeing the flag at home and away games.
I think the club need to say yes we can or no we cant take flags. The rugby have them raised up above the south stand for every home game.
Im getting a flag made up over the summer. A 6″ by 10″ St George’s Cross. Just needs some ideas what to put on!
26 March 2010 at 11:31 pm #27683The Freemasons Arms one from Goose Green has been everywhere over the years, as has my St Georges with WAFC in the corners (made it’s debut at Wembley in 1985) which is now on a flag pole at my house….
I’ve not seen the Cross Keys one for a while either…
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

Anyone know where i can get one printed. Just had a look on Barmy Army flags but cant get the badge on.
Let me know whilst im doing the run in for you all to read!
26 March 2010 at 11:59 pm #27686We have a 10ft x 5ft St George flag from Barmy flags (not cheap paid about £100 over ten years ago)
WAFC in each white square and Golborne Blues (horizontal) and Wigan Ath (vertical)
Used to take it to all home and most away games in the lower leagues and can be seen on most of our goals at home when the family stand was in the north stand.
First season in the prima dona league there were few grounds where there was room to put it out, as we used to take our full allocation!!!!!!!!Nowadays we dont go many away games and at home games there is no room to put the flag where we sit (SS4 in the middle) don’t fancy putting at the bottom, when we can’t see it.
Problem this season it has only had 4 outings and has not seen a win (Stoke away, Notts county away, notts county home and Brum away) so we are reluctant to take it now!!!!!!!
27 March 2010 at 1:06 am #27688Weres the pagefield hotel flag.thesedays. remember the crispin arms unionjack.and the blue and white flag what was hung out of that boozer in aspull for ages.also remember the big union jack with beechhill blues on not seen those flags a long time.we geet sum good flags in hideing time to get them out boys ;) ;) ;)
27 March 2010 at 1:43 pm #27701I remember the Cross Keys flag, the used to have a St George’s flag but then upgraded to a bigger flag which was Blue, think it was still a St George’s cross but in Wigan colours. Haven’t seen it since our Championship days.
As for the Golbourne flag, I remember it well, appears on the 10 of the Best DVD at the bottom of the South Stand. My advice to anyone who owns a flag is take it, I am going to start taking mine again and think everybody who owns one should get their worth out of it. Trust me original golbourne, you can’t blame your flag for our performances in those games and nobody will pinch it if you leave it at the bottom of the Family Stand, I always left mine where I couldn’t see it, especially away from home.
The Spain flag is a great idea, Roberto will appreciate it and being the great guy he is has actually expressed his delight at you taking the flag.
I am thinking of getting a new flag from Barmy Flags, it will be the horizontal split (Blue and White) with either WAFC or WE COME FROM WIGAN at the top and WE LIVE IN MUDHUTS at the bottom. My current flag is 10ft x 5 or 6ft and is the perfect size.
Who here or any know who owns the flags (2 or 3) that are lined up in ES1 (empty section)? They are at every/most home game/s.
P.S. JAY, GET YOUR FLAG BACK DOWN AT THE DW!
