That’s almost better, if not better than our home crowds. Wakefield wouldn’t have brought many probably a few hundred. The big teams bring 5’000 to Latics games & our attendance for Man United was 18’164 (something like that) 18’451 – 4’696 = 13’755 and that’s around 1’000 less than the attendance of Wigan Warriors v Wakefield Wildcats.
Although, Wakefield are the West Ham of the Premiership and the amount of Wigan Athletic fans against West Ham in September was 14’532 more than the amount of Wigan Warriors fans at the DW yesterday.
The biggest turnout in the home end was our game against Sunderland were 15’722 Wigan fans saw us run out 1-0 winners

14615 (less approx 150 Wakefield fans) was slightly higher than the visit of Wakefield last season for the opening fixture.
It was Easter Monday – folk do other things on that day.
There were no free (or £4) tickets available for the game.
That said, from my viewpoint (Boston Stand HH 164 – A red seat of course), the 54-14 victory was a very clinical performance by a side brimming with confidence – I counted just one knock on by Wigan in the first half. The flags above the packed South Stand also looked very impressive.
All in all, a very successful sporting weekend for those who like their Rugby, not to mention a terriffic win for Sunderland against Spurs, with a potential goal of the season to boot!
Hope those Easter Eggs didnt taste too bitter Landgate!

I don’t really want to get into the “our crowd’s bigger than your crowd” stuff again, I feel the need though to raise the issue of ticket price, a rugby mate of mine says it’s about £14 to pay on the day for rugby matches, at football the cheapest it ever gets is £20, rising to £30 for the bigger games.

Surely not I was under the impression they had been purchased by HEINZ and WORTHINGTONS in a joint venture i would say that figure is a tad egaguauatated (for the chubbies reading this )
