According to the Glasgow Evening Times James McArthur is set to sign early next week.
They say a fee of around £800k has been agreed.

10 May 2010 at 1:18 am #32630beatie from stoke thats one brown from pompey /should never have gone / fletcher from burnley /eagles burnley/
10 May 2010 at 1:39 am #32649beatie from stoke thats one brown from pompey /should never have gone / fletcher from burnley /eagles burnley/Brown is too old, and is hardly progression, especially for a team with a passing ethos.
Fletcher and Eagles are the best players in a side worse than us. Hardly Premier League class.
Beattie has played in 24 games and scored twice this season. We already have a players who has done something similar.
Valencia, Palacios, Chimbonda, Bullard, McCulloch…..what do they have in common? None of them were signed from a Premiership team.
10 May 2010 at 2:02 am #32661Beattie…..we allegedly got rid of Browny because he was becoming a bad influence in the dressing room, and you want us to sign Beattie???
Brown….see above
Eagles…..flatters to decieve, cant even get in Burnley’s team on a consistent basis
Fletcher….I’ll give you that one, at £3m he looks like he would have been well worth a punt, looks to be a tidy player
10 May 2010 at 2:11 am #32665so who would you sign
10 May 2010 at 2:40 am #32679We’re going to need at least 1 keeper so for starters, ask the question to Utd/City about getting Foster/Hart on loan, or look at someone like Westwood from Coventry
A new left back….Shorey from Villa would be decent, depending on fee/wages, he;s not spectacular but you know what you;d be getting every week
We need a new right back as well, but no one instantly springs to mind…Belhadj from Pompey, though not sure if he’s a left or right back!
A right winger is needed, not been overly impressed with Sinclair, but maybe there is something there, could be worth another loan season
A couple of strikers, really tricky this, we’re never going to be a position to sign someone who’s guaranteed to get us 15 goals a season at this level, might be worth looking in Spain’s top league or the South American route for someone (not Christian Benitez though), £9m for him looks an awful lot of money
10 May 2010 at 2:56 am #32682yes goalkeeper is a must. forwards your right some one young and hungery that would be a start /i always think you need a big man up front to hold the ball .always thought nugent was ok but never done it in prem . many thought he would me included .could take a gamble he be cheap
