We need a striker who can hold the ball up and bring others into play.

I know he’s not getting any younger but we could do a lot worse than resigning big Emile.

Brown is too old, and is hardly progression, especially for a team with a passing ethos.

Fletcher and Eagles are the best players in a side worse than us. Hardly Premier League class.

Beattie has played in 24 games and scored twice this season. We already have a players who has done something similar.

Valencia, Palacios, Chimbonda, Bullard, McCulloch…..what do they have in common? None of them were signed from a Premiership team.
We did sign Palacious from Birmingham…Were they not in the prem at this point. Not saying you are wrong by the way… Just wondering as I think that they were actually in the prem when we signed him.

If my memory serves me right, he was only on loan at Brum, and had only played half a dozen on games in England.

I’m sure he was signed from Olimpia.

I might be wrong though and can’t be bothered looking it up.

8 home-grown players required for next season, and McArthur would give us one more. He’s young and clearly talented; and dirt cheap too!

Who do we have who is likely to still be here? Boyce, Bramble, Kirkland, Watson, McCarthy, Moses (not sure that he is old enough to count towards the quota), Caldwell.

Any more? Pollitt? N’Zogbia counts but he’ll be at Barcelona by then.

            Yes they where – US.

            Thats half his point.
You really have missed my point haven’t you? Or perhaps you’ve done it deliberately. In fact, yes, I’m sure you have.

The players named are seen by most as some of our best Premier League performers, yet none of them were signed from a Premier League team. The point is, good players can be found outside the Premier League, and that is where we will have to attract players from, because, which Premier League player would consider joining a club tipped for relegation every year, unless he is out of contract or is on the squad fringes at his present club?

N’Zogbia and Cattermole are exceptions to the rule – in that they are Premier League players who we have paid money for and who were in the first team at their respective clubs at the time. (Kilbane as well perhaps, but not sure if he was actually getting a game at Everton. No doubt there are others that I’ve probably missed – but not many).

Wigan struggle to attract them, a lot of other club don’t because they have a fair chance of staying up, pay higher wages, and generally have a lot more to offer. So, yes, those players were signed from us, by someone else. Well done Mighty-Aff, you really are a shiny beacon of wisdom in a choppy sea of dullards.

In fact, I really can’t be bothered continuing with this post.

            It’s silly.

            Cue Monty Python music…..
