Apart from O’Neill in our first season at the JJB – I cannot recall a player who gets as much stick / abuse as Gomez
(numerous spring to mind from SP)And believe me it will get worse
In fact I feel quite sorry for the lad at times

I don’t, if he’s not good enough he deserves to be criticised.

You can’t blame him if he ain’t up to it. It’s the Manager you have got to blame for playing him :?5 August 2010 at 2:22 am #41685i can jeff wrightI used to call him the Crabman, alway’s passed the ball sideway’s never forward.

Good point but maybe it sends a message to the manager that the player is total utter rubbish and he should never ever even think about playing him again in his whole career.5 August 2010 at 3:16 am #41690I remember Paul Rogers did until he blasted the winner home at Wembley in the Auto Windscreens Final. Couldn’t do owt wrong after that.
Not that i’m saying Gomez will do something similar though. He is garbage. What was he thinking for that third goal tonight??

Well all I can say is that booing a player when he comes on the pitch and especially a freindly at that will do his confidence a world of good add to that what must the new signings think …….idiots some supporters
5 August 2010 at 10:45 am #41693your so correct 32 years sad people
5 August 2010 at 11:36 am #41695RM is a very stubborn man – he will not waver from what he believes in and he believes in Gomez
Gomez knows this
1. As soon as he is named in the team or on the subs bench – crowd derision
2. As soon as he warms up on the touch line – crowd derision
3. As soon as he takes his top off to come on – crowd derision
4. As soon as he touches the ball etc
5. When he makes his first boo boo etc
6. Even if he makes a decent pass – crowd reaction silenceThe guy must be on counselling all week to get him through a game
Put him out of his misery and send him out on loan – ffs
5 August 2010 at 12:33 pm #41698I was disgusted by our so-called ‘fans’ last night.
Gomez is clearly the Number One ‘Boo Boy’ now.
FFS! Get off his back. His first touch was greeted by moans and growns.
Dicks. I can see some serious falling out with fellow ‘supporters’ this season.
And WTF was all the abuse at Pennant for?
And as for the seat ‘rattling’ in the stand………….dear god! It was like something from Eton. Muppets.
5 August 2010 at 2:00 pm #41706Gomez should NOT be in the side above Moses. End of.

It was because he didn’t join us.
Bit stupid really and just to let you all know I’m totally against booing and I was not booing Gomez I just thought you were on about all the fans thinking he was bad or summit because I didn’t hear anyone booing him.5 August 2010 at 4:25 pm #41720I don’t, if he’s not good enough he deserves to be criticised.[/quote]
Criticised, yes. Totally and utterley ruined for everything he does? Behave yourself. If you think Gomez is that bad a footballer you know nothing.
I saw Rodallega applauded for taking a ball to feet, running back towards our goal for 10 yards before passing back to the centre-back. 2 minutes earlier, under considerably more pressure, Gomez did the same thing and was slaughtered.
That’s not rational football fans. that’s a mob whoi have decided they want somebody out and no matter what he does – like the little dinked ball into the penalty spot late on that no-one else in the team could/would have spotted – he will get the full dog’s abuse.
Granted, he can be frustrating and ineffectual at times, but who can’t? no way is he as bad a footballer as some make out. We aren’t exactly Barcelona without him, are we?

I’ll take this one up Griff
I didn’t go last night, have never booed Gomez & don’t agree with thos that do including last night HOWEVER there is no way in a million years that he is good enough for the top flight in England & I don’t think he will be in a million years
That opinion doesn’t mean I know nothing its just what I believe from having watched him over these last 12 months
I understand what you’re saying about him getting slaughtered for doing one thing yet when someone else does it they’re applauded coz I used to feel the same way about the abuse Teale got as opposed to the saint like worship McCulloch got. But IMO his good bits are too few and far between & just like you knew Koumas “could” produce somet decent but rarely did its the same with Gomez.
Personally I think people transfer the abuse they feel too guilty to chuck at Bobby (Latics legend, loves the club etc…) on to his signings & Gomez (along with Scotland) were (no matter what he may say now) his 2 flagship signings upon taking over & they’ve been really poor buys -
