After the loss of Cattermole Martinez has tried to sign a good strong midfielder and after the last minute set back during the window, it could be an out of contract player that could step up to the plate.
Last week Modeste M’Bami walked away from a deal that would take him to Galatasaray and that got Roberto’s nose sniffing to bring him to the DW Stadium. He has been on the lookout for a ‘handy’ midfielder since Cattermole sniffed his money and left for Sunderland.
Apparently talks broke down with Galatasaray after the player wanted a move away from Marseille at the end of last season. He wanted a move to the Premier League and had talks with Fulham, Portsmouth and Wolves but because of a slight knock he was carrying then they didn’t want to see him until he was fit again.
The player is apparently over here for talks already and is training to prove his fitness. If everything goes OK, he could well sign for us before the end of next week. M’Bami would cause problems in the New Year with regards to the ACN plus with World Cup Qualifiers, as he is an integral part of the Cameroon squad.
The midfielder is said to be keen to tie something up and as long as talks go well he thinks he can prove his fitness quickly.
