Today was the day the Wigan Athletic players reported back for pre-season training and they returned to find themselves wearing a brand new set of training gear made by our new kit supplier.

In preparation for our sixth season in the Premier League, most of Latics players came back to Christopher Park to get in their first training session. The only exceptions were those that were involved in the World Cup Finals, they are due back next week.

New boy Mauro Boselli was introduced to his new team mates as well as the training ground facilities and preparations were started for the opening game on August 14th. Mauro said “I’ve been waiting to get my boots on and start playing ever since I signed and to get out there today with my new team-mates was fantastic.

“They all made me feel very welcome and Graeme Jones took us through a good session. There is plenty of work to be done to make sure we’re fit and ready for the start of the season, but after today’s session I can’t wait for the next one!

Also new today for the players was the training kit that has been quickly put together by our new ‘Technical Partners’ Mifit, who apart from sounding like they are off a certain games machine will be making our kit for the next two seasons.

This is Mifit’s first attempt in the replica football market place and so it will be interesting to feel the quality and see the design in early August when kits will be put on sale to the Latics Fans. The Mifit brand has already enjoyed success in the production of technical sports apparel sold exclusively through DW Sports Fitness. The Mifit brand is committed to producing quality sporting apparel for all ranges of athlete.

A Mifit spokesman stated, “We are proud to be able to work with Wigan Athletic, and we are excited to be developing football replica kit and training apparel for the next 2 seasons. We feel that our association with Wigan Athletic will put Mifit on the map as one of the most recognised sports brands in the UK.”

The new kit and training range is expected to be released early August, with the exclusive distribution rights through Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic’s Head of Marketing and Retail Neil Ryan had this to say on the new partnership; “I am really pleased that we have agreed a deal with MIFIT and hope that the partnership goes from strength to strength. I am sure that all Latics fans will like the New Home and Away kits and Training Range that will be available for the start of the season.

“There are some new and exciting plans for our retail operation and with the help of MIFIT, these plans will come to fruition.”
