The official press release:

Enjoy fast paced, action packed football when the greatest names of the game go head-to-head, once more, in pursuit of the most coveted prize in indoor football at Echo Arena Saturday 18 June.

The Selco Masters Cup returns to the Echo Arena this June with Liverpool, Everton, Tranmere Rovers, Wigan, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool ready to battle it out for the Mersey Masters title and the chance to qualify for the UK Grand Final in September.

Tranmere return, once again, as Mersey champions having won this title for the last two years. However, they face stiff competition from a Liverpool side fresh from their tour of Brunei, strong Everton and Wigan teams, a Blackpool team looking to build on their excellent debut last year and a Bolton team making the short trip from their usual home at the Manchester event.

Come and see teams packed full of stars, including the likes of Patrik Berger, Stephane Henchoz, Graham Stuart, Stuart Barlow, Owen Coyle, Arjan de Zeeuw and Andy Preece in what promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment.

The captain of this year’s Tranmere team, Stuart Barlow, is delighted that they are once again competing in the world’s leading legends tournament. He said: “The Masters Cup is a fantastic event which is really competitive and a great deal of fun. Obviously it relies on appealing to the public, and it is great that the fans on Merseyside are always so supportive. With partners like Sky Sports and Selco, the Masters Cup is really elevated to the status of a top tournament and that attracts great players, good crowds and makes for memorable matches.”
