Ironically , in his first season back at Latics Jewell could only finish 10th in Division One. Dave Whelan decided to keep faith in his young Manager as he slowly re built the squad. He reaped the rewards the following season as Latics stormed the League with 100 points. Admittedly he was backed by Whelans millions but you have to give Managers time to build their squad.
