It’s simple. There’s no cameradrie in the side, and no leader on the pitch, like a Graham Kavanagh type. A ‘hard nut’ who will ‘ball and shout’ and encourage the others to get stuck in. We had that player…….but we’ve just sold him. (Cattermole)
For me, Melchiot is a crap captain. You never see him shouting at anybody. Scharner? Not a chance. He’s an headless chicken. Bramble? No, always liable to a f*ck up under pressure, so why give him extra?
If he was starting games, I’d say Erik Edman may be a candidate. But I don’t know how he shaped up last night. But from what I’ve seen of him, he’s a class defender. Must be to be Sweden’s left back, as they aren’t a bad side are they?
Apart from that, there’s NOTHING leadership-wise, in the squad. It’s terrible.
