If I were that obsessed with a band, I would appreciate that they have off days, as I had presumably been to watch some great gigs in the past.

No, I wouldn’t cheer wildly at the end if it was that bad, nor would I boo them. I’d probably shrug my shoulders disappointedly and leave.

If next time I went to watch them, and I was equally disappointed, I’d perhaps consider not watching them again and not buying their albums.

Or, the more likely reaction would be to remember that there have been some great gigs in the past, and that future performances can get better.

What would you do in the same scenario?

Perhaps I should be accused of emotional snobbery, as I’ve clearly overestimated our supporters’ capacity for reasonable displays of emotion other than jumping up and down whilst flicking the v at the opposition fans, or booing and hurling insults at our manager and team.

What’s next? Cries of ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’ and throwing season tickets at Martinez? We all laughed our socks off at the delusional Newcastle fans when they were doing it.
