What happened to Bobs beautiful football – it was hoof it up to the front men tonight

AND

like it or not Steve Bruce would have got wins against both Bolton and Stoke – not only that we would have got something from the Everton game

Tea Bag,

Coyle is also a manager who likes to play the ball on the ground. I’ve been to two Bolton home games (with work, not by choice) since he took over there, and on both occassions they’ve played some decent football, rather than the hoof-ball of previous seasons.

Tonight, both teams took to launching it forward, because it’s pointless trying to pass across that pitch because, yet again, it’s becoming virtually unplayable.

It’s impossible trying to play a passing game when the ruts and divots mean every player has to take a second touch to control the ball.

Whether Martinez instructed the players to hoof it, or whether they took it upon themselves to do, I don’t think there was any other option.

Tonight was a poor game no matter how you look at it, but to say Bruce would have got something from it is a sweeping statement. He isn’t getting much from any game at the moment at Sunderland, so who’s to say he would have done any different if he was still at Wigan. From what I remember, post Christmas last season was poor.
