Roberto has just been on sky sports and said he was very proud of the performance tonight and we are the makings of a good team.
I was not going to slag him off tonight but them comments have made me very worried. He thinks that was a performace to be pround of? did he watch a different game to me?
That game tonight was played by the two worst teams in the league, they were both rubbish.
Martinez must go if he thinks that was god, we are in trouble as Portsmouth, Bolton and us are going down this season. Our manager has lost the plot and the bad thing is he is getting worse.
18 February 2010 at 2:11 am #22931What happened to Bobs beautiful football – it was hoof it up to the front men tonight
AND
like it or not Steve Bruce would have got wins against both Bolton and Stoke – not only that we would have got something from the Everton game
18 February 2010 at 2:14 am #22932I am very worried. Martinez will take us down. He should do the honourable thing and resign. He should go back to Swansea and take Gomez and Scotland with him. He is responsible for the bad crowds because of his principles and poor style of football. How long before he realises that he doesn’t have the backing of the fans.
18 February 2010 at 2:17 am #22934Martinez is responsible for a lot of things – bad crowds arent one of them.
That is down to bone idle Wiganers who want everything handed to them on a plate and would probably moan that they’d had to pay their bus fair to get to the ground if it was free to get in and there was a free pint waiting for them on entry.
18 February 2010 at 2:19 am #22936According to Martinez We’re building yet another platform…. Soon we will have more platforms than Wigan North West Station.
If you look at our forthcoming fixtures. The future ain’t bright and it ain’t orange.. Where are we going to get another 13 points from :?:
Charlie the best player on the field by a mile, but how long before he loses his enthusiasm? I thought tonight we would come out with all guns blazing but the fight appears to have gone out of the team, but was it ever there :?: I fear if we drop into the bottom three we won’t have the fighting spirit needed to get out
Here’s hoping I’m wrong18 February 2010 at 2:24 am #22940Time the Martinez went. If tonigt was building a platform then I am glad he doesn’t work in the construction industry. He wouldn’t last five minutes on a site coming out with some of his useless comments. Adios Roberto

Last week against Stoke, – make no mistake he lost them the moment he brought Gomez on

Tea Bag,
Coyle is also a manager who likes to play the ball on the ground. I’ve been to two Bolton home games (with work, not by choice) since he took over there, and on both occassions they’ve played some decent football, rather than the hoof-ball of previous seasons.
Tonight, both teams took to launching it forward, because it’s pointless trying to pass across that pitch because, yet again, it’s becoming virtually unplayable.
It’s impossible trying to play a passing game when the ruts and divots mean every player has to take a second touch to control the ball.
Whether Martinez instructed the players to hoof it, or whether they took it upon themselves to do, I don’t think there was any other option.
Tonight was a poor game no matter how you look at it, but to say Bruce would have got something from it is a sweeping statement. He isn’t getting much from any game at the moment at Sunderland, so who’s to say he would have done any different if he was still at Wigan. From what I remember, post Christmas last season was poor.

once again blame is being put at the feet of anywhere but the true culprit-was the pitch to blame for givig the ball away time and time again-as with stoke last week bolton never made a tackle in the second half because we just keep giving the ball away.

In a Nutshell SW dead right, Lodgers out
18 February 2010 at 3:49 am #22958Ah Loudmouth, I very nearly made a reference to you, as you have claimed they play hoof ball, and tonight, you were right, they did.
I have never blamed anything for past performances – but have merely stuck up for Martinez’s belief in passing along the floor – which you say is a myth. I’ve also disagreed with you in the past as you say they pass the ball across the back too much and should ‘bang’ it up the middle.
I presume by ‘the true culprit’ you mean Martinez? I’m sorry, maybe my eyesight isn’t as good as it used to be, but what position did Martinez play tonight? Clearly it was his control that let the side down, or maybe his passing was wayward.
I wasn’t attributing a poor performance to the pitch, I was blaming the pitch for a poor spectacle. If each time you try to pass the thing along the floor it bobbles and bounces along, comes off your shin, or slices off the side of your foot, what are you going to do? Trap it, then hoof it, that’s what.
Can you honestly say that that pitch is suitable for pretty, passing football?
You may not like ‘the Spanish One’, but you can’t possibly maintain that the state of the pitch had no bearing on the style of football witnessed tonight.

find me one place where i have ever said “we should bang it up the middle”
i want to see good passing football and despite what the supporters of martinez say on message boards we havent seen anything like the amount you claim, and like tonight much of it has been pretty dire and boring .

Loudmouth you remeber the swain days then ?
18 February 2010 at 4:14 am #22964Loudmouth you remeber the swain days then ?yes i do and to be honest i feel very similar about our current set up-at least swain had the excuse we were nearly bankrupt at the time and no one had the expectations we have now, as i remember he used to say we will just keep plugging away and try our hardest – unlike martinez who keeps saying how pleased he is and how many positives he takes from the drivel his team keeps offering week after week.
one thing which i stated on here weeks ago and got slated for is swain is in our history as possibly the worse manager we have ever had (which considering the restrictions he worked under is a tad unfair)
but mark my words now martinez will take that title by a country mile when the powers that be realise how inept he actually is.18 February 2010 at 4:21 am #22965Anonymous
Is that not the same though we will keep plugging away mon Swain said we were nearly bankrupt yet Bobby is doing the same thing all but not in a bankrupt state but compared to the teams around us who have millions to spend where we have tuppence ?
