Are you telling me that Terry’s off field antics and the continued media hounding would have no effect on the rest of the team or their performance?
Capello’s action on this – like the rest of his strong discipline – has sent a clear message about how teammates need to behave, whilst also acknowleding that Terry is still a key player that England can ill afford to lose.
Leave him in as captain and he’s condoning Terry’s behaviour. Leave him out of the team and he’s weakening the squad. Good middle ground to quickly maintain stability (in the camp and in the press) given that there’s only 4 months to the World Cup.
