15529 for a local derby, after just beatin Saints, on a glorious bank holiday, 2k from Bradford and a million free tickets and still less than a thousand more than watched Latics v a southern team who brought 300. You seriously waited all this time since the 10680 topic started, to use this as some sort of gloating tool?
Oh dear Mutty, is this where you at now girlfriend?
Stick with Sunderland imo might have a bit of leverage there with the one horse town.
22 April 2014 at 1:01 am #13011515529 for a game against the bottom side, where the wigan coach rested many regulars and named a squad full of young local lads, on a glorious bank holiday, about 100 from Bradford and no free tickets and still almost a thousand more than that what turned up on a glorious Bank Holiday to watch Latics v Reading, who brought over 1000 for a crunch clash that would determine who made the playoffs and who didnt.Dont let facts get in the way of an anti-rugby rant eh Tezza?
22 April 2014 at 1:38 am #130123Surprised no one mentioned the score
84-6 wasn’t it?
St Helens lost at Widnes so a top BH weekend of thugby.
Shouldn’t break sweat next week against Hunslet. I feel yet another trip to Wembley coming up
22 April 2014 at 3:12 am #130127close games them thugby matches.there must be sumat that attracts the Klumps.
22 April 2014 at 4:17 pm #130166The phrase “Men against Boys” applied. Sadly (for Bradford), it was the Wigan boys who gave their men a whipping.

The derby (in the main) matches on the Thursday/Friday are always the most intense games of the season and take more out the players than normal. It’s tough for the smaller squads to back that up.

Off you trot then Tezza! ;)
28 March 2015 at 2:28 am #140706Even though we have had the poorest season in our history. To compare attendances at home in a recent Friday game against Charlton (who brought hardly any fans) we still got a bigger crowd on than the Rugby managed tonight.
28 March 2015 at 12:04 pm #140707You are correct in pointing that out. But there was the little matter of a European qualifier on ITV that will have been a bigger attraction than shelling out £20 to see a very one-sided contest.
Now, tell me what was the “alternative” on 24 Jan, or on 7 Feb. Or 24 Feb. Or 17 Mar?

But I thought it was a rugby town, Mutty? Surely rugby fans wouldn’t have stayed in to watch wendyball on TV when their team are playing a game, would they? That would only happen if football was more of an attraction than rugby.
