On the 13th February 1904, the F.A. Cup Second Round tie at White Hart Lane between Tottenham Hotspur, then in the Southern League, and Aston Villa had to abandoned at the end of the half time interval.
A large section of the crowd had wandered onto the pitch during the break and neither club officials or referee Johnny Howcroft could persuade them to leave again. Subsequently Spurs were ordered to pay £350 of their gate receipts to charity and to replay the match at Villa Park.
They still managed to win the tie 1-0.
