Exactly the same as this time last year same place same points tally.
Progress ???We had this discussion about 9/10 games back. Basically like for like on points, inferior goal difference (worse on points for same teams played) at the time.
Someone made the point at the time we lost 8 on the bounce last season; we ain’t done too clever points-wise recently.
To my mind at the time, a worse start given the form back end of last season, greater experience and close-season investment in squad.
Unfortunately, points (not performances) make prizes and we’ve contributed to our own downfall on a number of occasions this year, with a little assistance from the referees along the way.
As Lawro’ said only today, Wigan may not get relegated, but at the moment one of the three worst teams in the PL. On current form, spot on (for once …)
Here’s hoping that somehow fortunate likes kindly upon us at one of our favourite stomping grounds, Villa Park (‘heart not head’).
