There have been 19,984 goals scored in the premier league since its inception in 1992. Whoever scores that landmark goal gets an award of £20K to donate to a charity of their choice. There are two games on Tuesday….so unless there is a complete freak of nature and a 16 goal thriller between them (6-2 and a 5-3….great odds) then it must come (should come) on Wednesday.

Fingers crossed Mr C, although after Saturday, I am filled with a renewed optimism.
On another note, there’s the likelihood that I’m going for pre-match drinks with seven other Wigan folk, although, I will be the only Wigan Athletic supporter amongst them.
Is there another town in the UK where such a scenario may occur? There can’t be many places with a top class football team but where you are just as likely, if not more likely, to meet someone supporting a rival team as you are of someone supporting your town’s team.

Mr Standish…there is no shame in going out for a drink with seven Fleetwood Town FC supporters – they are, after all, an up and coming Northern Team (great result away against Newport)
……No! seriously you are quite right and that, my friend, is the essence of football support (as long as they take this same sentiment in defeat). Like you, I have been in many ‘away ends’ not to hold court against others.
Anyway…..if your mates are Liverpool supporters they can f*£k off.
