OK, here we go.
The DW Stadium hasn’t had an away allocation over 5,000 for about a decade. This mainly due to the safety aspect of having more than that on the concourses, the congestion and crushing that has occurred in the past dictates this decision. There are other reasons, like encroachment, broken seats etc, but the concourse crush is by far the main issue.
With regards to this particular game, as was eluded o earlier in this thread, the Marquee and other hospitality areas will have the other tickets that take it to the full safe allocation (which as mentioned is around 5,000)
Hope that is definitive enough for you, it’s all I’ve got.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

That’s a design fault then.
Thanks for that info.
I wonder how many other new stadiums have been built but then find out later that they have been designed with too many seats for the infastructure.2 February 2018 at 8:54 pm #165861Thought it was something to do with concourses.

Take Everton for instance, the last time we were in the Bullens Rd the crush in the concourse was really uncomfortable and based upon how Wigan are dictated to; you would have restricted our allocation to hundreds rather than thousands. Farcical rules, not farcical planning !

3 February 2018 at 2:37 am #165869You know, would love for this to be an issue in the home end…
3 February 2018 at 2:44 am #165871Fair enough that Jason, glad to see that the club aren’t losing out on a few thousand quid then, did tweet the club and ask the same question about City’s allocation…didn’t get an answer, but was just curious.
Hopefully we’ll have a great crowd in the home ends to match City’s support…actually do believe that Wiganers who don’t normally back the lads, might just get off their collective backsides for this one
3 February 2018 at 12:23 pm #165875Concourses in the Doug Ellis stand st Villa Park are very narrow yet hold thousands more than our East Stand. Went to an England game there years ago and we didn’t get anywhere near being able to buy anything.
