They say money goes to money.

After Bolton bottling it against Palace it means Latics game against United is now on TV. Apparently this is United’s 56 consecutive game in the competition that has been televised.

      That is some run….

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

That should mean another few Bob to help with the running of our club.
From this one game alone we could be looking at turning over around half or more than the revenue we took from season ticket sales for all season.
It was worth taking the Forest game seriously.
Arsenal away please for round 5.

Makes me puke, there can be no justification for the Media junkies getting TV revenue for many of their cup games which lets be honest are not even competitive but one sided. I have had a long term self imposed ban of watching any of their televised games so I’m in a quandary when we play the barstewards. I,m away for the game so I have to lift the said ban so I can see my beloved club probably getting battered by the despicable money mad scum.

Will have to soften the blow by quaffing enormous amounts of cheap and horrible Spanish beer .

Not sure how much we get from it being on telly, but we should get close to £1m from the gate receipts alone.
When you work out our season ticket sales and the fact a lot will be kids and pensioners, the overall amount taken will probably be about £1.2m, so with a chunk from the BBC, it will more than match what we get from season ticket sales never mind half.

I was hoping we wouldn’t be on so the “Wigan reds” couldn’t watch. Then again it would still have been on somewhere.

Like it or not but Utd are the biggest draw in the country so any chance to up the ratings will be snapped up.

Just makes me want to turn them over that little bit more so all their TV “fans” across the country can watch.

I agree Ad. Watching little Wigan turn over the scum would be great to watch, especially if all the Armchair ‘fans’ are watching.

After the Sutton manager raised the point I heard a brilliant discussion on the radio debating why the big clubs should always be on. A point brought up was it was understandable that the likes of Sky Bt etc wanted them on as they had to sell advertising so put Scum Utd to boost figures. The BBC however are state funded ie the tv licence so their viewing figures are immaterial yet they still follow the trend. Most football fans in this country DO NOT support Manure yet we have them shoved down our throats at every possible opportunity.

Good point Maj, nothing grates on me more than when I look at TV who is playing live and it is them winnets more or less without fail!

The thing is I can understand if they were far and away the best club in the Prem and playing the best football, but they simply aren’t, and even if I was a neutral (as in if I did NOT despise Utd).. there are still plenty other teams I would rather watch on the Television.

They are the biggest supported club though so you would imagine that viewing figures would be higher for their games.

Yes the BBC don’t have to worry about advertising but they still need viewing figures.

I don’t exacly understand how TV ratings etc etc etc work, but from what I gathered from Nuneaton’s post, it says that basically the viewing figures are immaterial, is this incorrect?

They have still paid good money to show the FA Cup so won’t want people watching something else.

It’s just the advertising side they won’t be bothered about whereas BT will charge to advertise during the game.

That’s what this debate was alluding to and why the figures are immaterial. 30 million or 3 million viewers doesn’t make the beeb extra revenue. I agree they would want to get good figures. The part I cannot understand is who decides who gets what when like the FA cup its broadcast on multiple channels?.

The thing is, from experience, the majority of people that DON’T ‘support’ United either dislike, hate, despise them.

With that in mind, do you think that they will really get the highest figures?

Suppose some people may watch them at times in the cup with hope of an upset and Utd being knocked out though ;)

                          #154317

I really am not sure about this, but does the fact that BBC have the rights mean they also have rights to lease out to foreign broadcasters for overseas transmission? The pictures certainly will be provided from BBC cameras. The Far East market then is immense, and presumably the fees the BBC could charge would be substantial.
