I really am not sure about this, but does the fact that BBC have the rights mean they also have rights to lease out to foreign broadcasters for overseas transmission? The pictures certainly will be provided from BBC cameras. The Far East market then is immense, and presumably the fees the BBC could charge would be substantial.Good point. If they DO have the rights to lease out, then it would make much more sense to be honest.
18 January 2017 at 5:50 pm #154319Maybe you are all getting it wrong here, and its nothing to do with Utd at all, it may just be that Wigan Athletic are the attraction for the BBC ???

18 January 2017 at 7:42 pm #154329Actually with the Yootha link this is one that is ideal for TV.

Actually with the Yootha link this is one that is ideal for TV.Well, I hate to be blunt here but, I think apart from Utd and Wigan fans, nobody actually cares.
I think Joyce being here won’t increase or decrease viewing figures significantly.
18 January 2017 at 8:11 pm #154335I just worry we will get spanked on TV by that shower of shite. Told you before, put your mortgage on bloody Rooney breaking the record against us. You all know its gonna happen.
18 January 2017 at 8:15 pm #154336Definitely Nuneaton

18 January 2017 at 10:30 pm #154338Let’s hope it’s not that pr!ck Mowbray commentating.
He can’t wait to describe how impudent little Wigan were taught a lesson they will never forget.
18 January 2017 at 10:50 pm #154339He might get a late consolation penalty like Bainsy a few years back.
18 January 2017 at 11:54 pm #154340More likely horc is we will be brilliant on the day keeping out everything the scum throw at us only to lose to a blatantly wrong penalty in the 95th minute.

Same with me but with most matches that appear on TV including the cliche ridden match of the day. Don’t give a shite about any club apart from ours and of course a passing interest in seeing Nob End and Noblot get beaten.
19 January 2017 at 1:17 am #154343Games involving United get the largest TV audiences – that’s why they keep getting picked for FA Cup games time after time.
The BBC still has a duty to its licence payers & governors to get the largest viewing figures for their programmes regardless of whether they can aell advertising during the game or not. The BBC’s deal with the FA doesn’t tie them to spreading the games around like Sky’s premier league deal & if sky could show United every week they would.
Whilst the “magic of the cup” may mean I’d love to watch Sutton v Leeds or Lincoln v Brighton the fact is that the viewing figures for United v Wigan will dwarf what they would get for the above 2 games19 January 2017 at 2:00 am #154344lets hope the refs not a united fan and bollocks the lot up.
19 January 2017 at 11:05 am #154346I don’t get this Utd get the best viewing figures as I imagine many fans of every other club deliberately don’t watch the fookers and switch off. Most football fans in England do not follow Utd and the majority of those who proclaim to do so (the sheep) don’t even know what they are watching half the time. As an individual club they do have most viewers but collectively their numbers are dwarfed by the majority who support a club not a trend.
