Plenty of non Utd fans watch their games in the hope they lose.
If they didn’t get the best figures then they wouldn’t have been on 55 (soon to be 56) times in a row in the cup.
19 January 2017 at 12:19 pm #154348I don’t get this Utd get the best viewing figures as I imagine many fans of every other club deliberately don’t watch the fookers and switch off. Most football fans in England do not follow Utd and the majority of those who proclaim to do so (the sheep) don’t even know what they are watching half the time. As an individual club they do have most viewers but collectively their numbers are dwarfed by the majority who support a club not a trend. If you are basing it on fans who go to watch matches then the 75,000 Utd get on each week is dwarfed by the rest of the PL and FL attendances, but the amount of armchair fans they have is many many more.
I know loads of people who reckon they support Utd, and Liverpool for that matter, and they have never stepped inside any football ground nevermind OT or Anfield.
It is the same, but to a much lesser extent with the eggs, people claim to support them, but actually only follow their results or watch on telly. Its because they are the ‘biggest’ name and the most successful clubs, and some people need to be associated with success, and can’t think for themselves so jump on the band wagon, and become Man U fans.
Personally, I’m glad its on TV because I’m working that weekend so I will be able to watch most of it (finish work at 4pm) and hopefully witness another major cup upset.

Mentioned this earlier, I would imagine people would (As I do sometimes) potentially watch it in hope they may get beat/embarrased. Those people though (Including me) may turn off say if united go 2-0 up in first half etc, so I don’t know whether watching part of it then switching it off would contribute towards ‘viewers’.
If they do, then I can understand why to an extent.
The thing is, from experience, the majority of people that DON’T ‘support’ United either dislike, hate, despise them. With that in mind, do you think that they will really get the highest figures?
Suppose some people may watch them at times in the cup with hope of an upset and Utd being knocked out though ;)[/b][/b][/b][/b][/b][/b][/b][/b][/b][/b]
19 January 2017 at 4:37 pm #154359They say money goes to money. After Bolton bottling it against Palace it means Latics game against United is now on TV. Apparently this is United’s 56 consecutive game in the competition that has been televised.
That is some run….
Let’s hope they don’t make it 57..

19 January 2017 at 6:18 pm #154370The only consolation is the opposing team benefits for what ever the reason is for us normal fans having to suffer watching that shite year in year out, is it the same in Spain, does Barca get all the coverage, I doubt it.
19 January 2017 at 7:12 pm #154372But the point is the revenue they get from televised games especially when they have their own TV channel as well. It is unfair on the rest of the clubs. Today it was announced that they are the richest club in the world is it any fookin wonder when British TV bankroll the scum and every FA cup game is on the box. There is a different set of rules where the shite are concerned always has been.

Barca & Real have their own deals & they’re on every game. The other clubs get fook all bar what they negotiate themselves
