Me & the Mrs are wanting a decent curry tonight, anyone recommend a good takeaway in Wigan?
Danke schon.26 August 2011 at 8:42 pm #70474Just seen the other thread, gonna try The Raj on Woodhouse.
27 August 2011 at 2:34 am #70497Actually we’ve just had a Buraq tonight – superb as always.
14 September 2011 at 12:53 pm #71316Raj isn’t all that. Looks like a dump too.
Shundabon (Excuse spelling) in the town centre is decent.14 September 2011 at 1:00 pm #71318Be sure to try the chicken tarka. Its similar to the tikka but the tarka is a little otter !! :D

14 September 2011 at 1:58 pm #71320They say the old ones are the best.
This just disproves the theory.
14 September 2011 at 3:07 pm #71322Only had takeaway from Raj once and it wasn’t very good at all.
Buraq is really good, but someone I know told me a story about them that has stopped me giving them my custom. I won’t repeat the details, but it’s nothing like the usual hygiene related rumours Indian restaurants often have.
The Shundarbon in Wigan actually closed a few months back.

Is the story regarding Cats? Or their meat more importantly?
There was a Cat meat rumour about the India Gate in Horwich. And why did it shut down?? Good place that! Even played football on the Tele!
14 September 2011 at 6:50 pm #71329No, no nothing like that at all. It was more, shall we say, a customer service issue. I’ll leave it at that.
14 September 2011 at 8:29 pm #71331No the Raj is not a takeaway place. It is for eating in. Trust me i love Indian food and have been to probably nearly all in the Wigan area. I have had a takeaway from there myself and it is a very half hearted attempt, However when you go in the food is the best thing in the world, The service is excellent, Beer is also excellent and ignore JamesC, It is like a palace inside. He obviously hasn’t been.
15 September 2011 at 1:35 am #71337I think buraq is good-but I virtually live next door mind you! sayin’ that, I havn’t heard any of the rumours bein’ posted…. c’mon….. wot did they do?

15 September 2011 at 2:29 am #71339Been to Buraq a few times to eat in and have never had a problem.
If I order I tend to go to either Moghul (santi bag), Pemberton Balti or one that I can’t remember the name of. Went to Massala Express in Chorley the other night when I was at the Mrs’ house and it was f*cking awesome. Red hot when it arrived, full of flavour, absolutely superb.

If you’d come into my restaurant and started playing football on my telly I’d have chucked you out and no danger. Show some manners. -
